And here's this 1950s blade and beige plastic case. Not a hint of bakelite anywhere!

Wooh! Assembling a whole kit. I believe that dressing is to condition the strop and keep it supple, but isn't an abrasive paste like feox or crox. Do you reckon it's useable? You could probably refresh it with a drop of mineral oil and condition those strops as Rolls intended. The Whetter would be proud!

Paul is the king of all that is Rolls and Valet! After all of these years I have finally seen Rolls soap. I adjusted my monitor cleaned out my eyeglasses and I am not seeing things!

Marcus - YOU are the Whetter. You are his embodiment today. I'll send it down to you to consider, along with the soap. Let's see what you think. If it's greasy, I'll dress my Viscount and see how it goes. I'd like you to prepare my Imperial for the 21st Century Joe - Soap and strop paste. I just need the stick and I'll have the hat trick. The soap is very nice indeed! Shaving with the Rolls itself and the soap was a real buzz! Shortly after, kitten (I say kitten ... he's a year old, three foot long ... one of them Maine Coon monsters) smacked me in the face, playing, so now I have a little swelling under my bottom lip which makes shaving a bit of a pain now ... sort of a red soul patch.

Thanks Paul! It will be a pleasure to look at your Rolls stuff and bring that Imperial into the 21st century Maybe I should do it all naked kneeling on the floor lol

:-) Now if you gents would start a thread that informs the totally ignorant (that'd be me) about getting our Rolls blades useable it would be greatly appreciated.
Assume we know absolutely nothing and you'd be 100% on the mark. Of course I refer to myself. I have the razors but clearly they aren't useable after a very long time spent with the Rolls hone and strop.

The main thread about getting the Rolls shaving beautifully is here: theoriginalsafetytoo.proboards.com/thread/1360/improved-21st-century-rolls-razorThe key is to reset the bevel on the blade and then hone it properly as if it were a straight. And then paste the case strop with ferric oxide. I'll happily hone the Rolls blade of any member here to shave readiness. Just PM me if you're interested

Arrived today ... I thought I'd drop it in here, since I mentioned it above. It's a new puck of Erasmic - no, I didn't get vintage in the bowl

I thought I posted a reply and .... nothing. I must have done something wrong. I wouldn't mind taking you up on that offer. How many blades? I have a bunch. Maybe we can work a trade, your talent for USA products. We can take this to PMs. Too, afterward, it gets stropped before and after each shave, how many times? Where does one get the iron oxide? It gets applied directly to the case strop? How often does the case hone get used? Gently so as not to slap it I assume. I can't imagine slapping it would do it any good at all. Sorry about the questions, but I really know nothing about this. Noob.

Sorry about the questions, but I really know nothing about this. Noob. Strop the blade liberally (1 minute+) before and after shaving. The case hone is only used if the blade becomes dull but it's not really up to the job, hence the idea of putting 1u lapping film over it to get it up to speed. But the idea is that by pasting the strop with ferric oxide, you won't ever need to hone the blade again!! The feox is available on ebay uk here: m.ebay.co.uk/itm/221433401228?nav=SEARCHHe's a nice guy and may do shipping to US, but there is surely a US equivalent or I could send you some back with your blades. Alternatively, the strops are light and detach easily from the case, so just send the strops along with the blsdes and I'll paste them. It involves mixing the powder with baby oil, painting it on, letting it soak in then wiping off the excess. It's incredibly messy but a little goes a long way. I'd love to do all the blades (and strops) so let's sort something out by PM. Rolls excellence awaits!

Tried the Rolls soap tonight (thanks Paul!) and it's simply superb. It explodes with lather, is very moisturising and smells of cream soda. And the bakelite bowl is so beautiful that it literally made me catch my breath when I first unpacked it.
