Here is a picture of both the Christy's and the Kutter's instruction booklets. The similarity between both is striking. Another close up view of both the Keen Kutter & Christy base plates. It seems that the Christy Company wanted to differentiate between both razors. Though both razors are similar in design the proprietary razor blades definitely separated them. The Christy's added bar adds heft to the base plate, the Keen Kutter's base plate is notably lighter.

Wow, another superb review, and it inspired me to drag out my Keen Kutter and give it a go! I recall reading that injector blades could be used in these but for some reason I just never got around to trying it out until now. I got this a couple years ago at a little general store where I found a box of Williams soap from the Glen Rock plant. When I was paying for it the store owner commented that it had been setting there for years and she didn't know anyone used it anymore. I told her I collected shaving stuff and she said she had an old razor in her office that someone gave her years ago so she went and got it and brought it out. She wouldn't take any money for it. It still has the cardboard blade but sadly no instructions. Here it is loaded with a Chick blade. I pushed against the blade edge with a q-tip and it seemed to be very secure with no movement backwards so I used it this morning.I actually kind of like it, the long handle and fairly large frame make finding the right angle very easy. My first impression was that it looked like it would be very aggressive on the order of an E type, but it's actually quite mild, similar to the later Schick models. I have passed up these and Christy's that I've run across in antique stores but now I'd like to find a Christy just to have.

Tom, I see you have the same set as I do. My set didn't have any of the original blades left, this would have made the mod much easier. Speaking of the mod. Yes, the Kutter seems to hold an injector blade well enough alone.
I created the Keen Kutter mod to secure the blade in place (when there is extreme pressure). Of course, who would dare press super hard during a shave? Well, it just eases my mind from this issue. Indeed it's quite a mild shaver, a very easy razor to pick up and use. I find the Christy just a tiny bit more mild (which is barely noticeable).
Excellent, I'm glad that you were inspired to test drive the Keen Kutter. I believe that this razor deserves a bit more notice. It may not be the best razor made but it's a solid shaver no doubt.

Another pic of both the Christy & Keen Kutter. They both have similarities and minor differences.

Since both Christy & Keen Kutter razors are related, I thought I'd post this picture. For anyone that doesn't own a Christy and wonder about blade compatibility. This picture guide shows two things. One, how an injector blade is compatible with the Christy. Two, how to install an injector blade into the Christy razor.

I have an Enders razor I won in a lot (along with a bunch of Christys) and it is made by the same company though by the looks of it it might require a plastic card strip like the Keen Cutter. It is on its way.

Exceptional information exceptionally presented.
I must thank you for always thinking outside the box on these proprietary blade type razors. I was feeling a little slump in my razor 'play' of late but this post has me digging through the heap. I'm looking forward to my first shave with one of these.
As has already been said, your contributions to the wet shave world are highly valued.
Thank you

Fram773, I don't own an Enders but try and mod the razor. If it has an original blade it will make the process easier. I am fully aware that some razors can't be modded. Some proprietary blades would take either too much modding or jut impossible to do. I decided long ago not to post razors that just can't be modded.
RocketMan, I want to inspire everyone to try some of the more unusual SE razors. Some razors aren't too hard to mod, it just takes a bit of figuring out how to do it. Give your Keen Kutter/Christy a try you'll love it! I have a few more odd razors (with their own mods) coming up.

My KK has arrived ... It came with two baseplates which are ever so slightly different: one has some patent numbers on the comb, the other plain. The very subtle difference is, one holds an injector blade quite firmly between the side guides, the other does not and the blade slips back. Neither fit onto the Christy without forcing. The baseplate with the patent numbers is just a smidge tighter and so, the injector blade can be positioned and slipped into the razor to use without a shim behind. Lucky. I guess the other baseplate could have the side guide tightened by literally a hair's width and give the same characteristics.
