I just got a Schick Type E through the post this morning from the USA.......
I don't know much about them......This is the first Schick that I have bought........
The razor is in remarkable condition aesthetically .....
BUT, HERES THE PROBLEM....
The head and blade keeper are loose and rattling around and there is no spring tension......The razor is the E type model with the fixed spring which does not allow the razor to open for cleaning.......
The razor came with an old blade and I strongly suspect that someone has tried to remove the blade without having the knowledge that these razors don't open and this is the end result......The head is so loose that the blade fell out in my hand....
I have contacted the seller through EBay procedure's and asked for a refund....
Just in case I get stuck with razor for any reason.....
IS THERE ANY WAY THAT THIS FAULT CAN BE CORRECTED ?

Greetings
Whilst I am certainly no expert I own and use several injectors. I take it that when you describe the razor as a Schick C in the first line of your post you mean a Schick E as you call it later.
Most sub models of Schick E's were never made to come apart as you rightly say, the exception being the first E model, the problem for a 'non razor person' is that the curved mark inside the head/frame where the spring bears down gives the false impression that the razor ought to come apart, so they try! This mark results during the factory assembly.
From reading the posts on several forums it would certainly seem that those who have tried to disassemble them in the main have not been able to get them back together again with any real spring tension resulting in a razor like yours ie 'buggered'
Sending it back would, I suggest be the wisest course, if you get stuck with it all I could suggest is a metal or plastic spacer under the position where the spring touches the frame to add tension but it would be a real bodge!
Regards Dick.

Hi Dick,
Thank you for your feed back..... I did mean E .....I have corrected that in a wee edit.....
Yeah, that's what I am getting out of the forums.....Someone's definitely tampered with it as the razor is in such great condition and that suggests its been lightly used and not been damaged through wear and tear.....
I am in love with the design and handle of this defacto "Junko" "Schick" ...
I am looking for another one, but I am contacting the sellers and asking them about tightness of the spring and head mechanics and asking them to leave any old blade in the razor.......
Most of these razors are being sold by people that know nothing about them....
There is a Canadian Model Type E sitting on UK EBay with a low starting bid ~ £5.00 in all its pride and glory laying open and knackered for the unsuspecting buyer ending up with another defacto "Junko" "Schick"....
Yeah, they can have it back !

Well actually type E and G injectors with fixed spring, though not meant to be opened regularly as earlier E types, can be opened for cleaning (I do it myself when I need to) but: 1/ not so often 2/ very very gently and carefully 3/ using some tool (like a screwdriver) and by no means brute force 4/ by someone who knows what he's doing
Otherwise it will result in damaging the razor....

You don't need to get stuck with it. If the seller never mentioned it wasn't working you can open a case and get your money back even if the seller listed no returns.

Thanks for your advice....I didn't know that... I've sent the seller an Email through EBay...EBay have started return procedures and messaged me saying that if the seller doesn't reply by the 18th they will intervene on the matter......I have heard nothing from the seller thus far..... It looks like they are giving me the rubber ear.....

Don't worry about it Fergie. I went through an ordeal with ebay. The item I bought never came. The seller wouldn't even respond so I opened a case with ebay. I was given a date by which the seller had to respond. In the end ebay had refunded my money siding with me.
Ebay is usually very good with cases.

Hi Joe, The funny thing was, I had a strange feeling about this one...It took longer than usual to arrive and the moment I took it out the case it was like a babies rattle.......I have been fortunate so far with sellers on EBay.....I sent for another E type, but I have been OCD with my Emails asking them not to tamper with them and send them with the blade un removed from the razor.....and DOES IT RATTLE ? The prices of Schick's from the USA are generally very cheap and there are some lovely examples at the moment , its the damned postage that bumps the cost up....... Yeah, hopefully it will sort itself out.... Thanks Joe

My Newly acquired Schick Type G
[/img][/p] Another shot of the Schick
My confidence in EBay sellers has been up lifted as the seller was so humble that he did not mention that the Schick Type G that arrived in the post this morning is in New Unused Condition......The razor even has the factory dummy blade still in the head, original blades and instructions.....I am over the moon with it......

Thanks.....I have got another boxed unused Schick G Type coming over from the States with a transparent amber handle at a good price....There is a few lovely examples on US EBay recently and there seems to be windows of opportunity from time to time where there is little or no serious interest in them.....
