Absolutely stunning set.....Wont be many of them going around in that condition.....Looks as if it came off the production line yesterday......
This was the last of the Star Companies Older Style Lather Catchers......The Star Bar type lather catcher was for all intents and purposes the Star Companies version of the Gem G Bar Junior..... I would hazard a guess that it's from about 1910-1911 not long before the Star "Little Lidless 1914"...........
Congratulation's.......

Lovely! Does it say "Star Safety Razor Corp" on the back? 1919 on, if so ... this style of lather catcher was released really quite late under the Star brand and was practically the last of them, like a "Special Edition".
Lovely!

Its does say "Star Safety Razor Corp" on the back. NO patent dates whatsoever. It is pretty and one of my favorite razors in my collection. It is a little different from the " Star Junior Bar " in the post by Sleddog, the major difference being his has the patent dates on it. I was not sure if this was made while Star was a stand alone company. So the general consensus from you guys is its a late Star brand company razor circa early teens before the "lidless" Star razors ? I've shaved with it and it is awesome. The shipper box says " For Tough Beards " so maybe thats what I need to get through my grey stubble. I do tend to use most of my razors hope that doesnt bother anyone. I don't let em sit around with soap scum but I just LOVE using these.

Nice write up on your ASR lather catcher. Very tiny difference in the razors, mine has the Star embossed blade holders you mentioned and the no patent date I mentioned earlier. This shaves very different for me than the Gem Junior Lather catcher (long handle) I own. While I find the Star Razor to be a perfect shaver,my Gem Junior Bar is too mild for me. Its a shame because it is gorgeous.
