You will have to play the long game, but an Allegro Model E with K11 extension would be nice to have along with this one. I certainly enjoy using mine, because stropping these blades is a bit of a pain using the bayonet only. Great looking razor in any event. Enjoy!

Getting the wedges honed is a pain, with or without the stropping-aid. The steel of these SE-wedges is tougher than that of most of my straight razors so honing takes a lot more time. Plus the wedges are narrower than the Naniwa's so doing a few of these wedges causes the need for lapping the stones again. For stropping these things, I just use my small adjustable loom-strop which is about as wide as a wedge, no problems there. Stropping on a full-width strop, that sucks, because due to the smaller width of the wedge you can draw scratches in the length of the leather. That's why I got another loom, for SE-wedges and my kamisori's.

Beautiful - congratulations on a great score! I've been interested in these for some time, but I keep getting outbid. I also picked up some of those NOS Heljestrand blades. If you think these are difficult to hone, wait until you get a Wilkinson Sword Empire set. --Bob

Got two Wilkinson-sets. Been postponing honing these :-)

It is hard to find one, but well worth the hunt. It took me a few times before I began to appreciate how useful it can be.

Got two Wilkinson-sets. Been postponing honing these :-) Shove a chop stick behind the blade when loading it on a stropping handle. Not perfectly straight, but it gets the job done.
