While I was at the San Diego ShaveCon yesterday, I picked up some samples from Chiseled Face Groomatorium, including some Midnight Stag shaving soap. There is a matching aftershave splash available. From the CFG website: "Scent is made of the following notes: Russian Leather, Motor Oil, Hoppes #9, Birch Tar, Oakmoss, Gasoline, Smoke, Cedar, Cade, Bergamont, Vanilla." I swear I am not making this up. (For those of you not into firearms, Hoppes #9 is a famous gun cleaning solvent with a distinctive scent.) Amazingly it's a pretty accurate description. This is serious manly man stuff. Clubman Special Reserve is a girly scent compared to this. Slap some of this on and go pick a fight with Chuck Norris. My wife's verdict: "You smell like you've been working on a car." Glad I only got a free sample. I washed my face off with facial soap and splashed on a lot of Clubman Special Reserve, which seemed quite refined and understated in comparison. --Bob

Sometimes I have to wonder about products that take things that far. I had a roommate in college that used a bottle of malt liquor as mouthwash before parties. His thought was if he showed up smelling drunk he was ahead of the game.
Then again, I smelled like eau du no.9 at dinner last night. It gives shrimp an interesting flavor lol.

They had me at the Hoppes. But then add a little tar, some gas ..... Yummy. That is a heck of an ingredient list. I'm not sure I'm man enough for this one.

This thread intrigued me, so I've shaved with the Midnight Stag for a few months.
The fuel and Hoppes aromas mellowed into a primarily leather scent. I like the scent both ways, and I'm happy with the lather.

Six hours of daylight tends to alter one's outlook. Not to mention one's behavior.

Six hours of daylight tends to alter one's outlook. Not to mention one's behavior. You may have a point there.
