SD that light sounds awesome! I am not so good in low light so I try tokeep lights around. My Apartment is fairly high. I am on the bottom floor. No gennie though. My Dad still lives out in the Bayou so if he comes he will bring one. I keep food on tap and water. It is a normal thing for me. The tp is stacked in the bathroom closet. Usually I end up on the work emergency team too,so may not be home much during a storm. Hey man......Hurricane Party takes priority....I'm sure work will understand....};^D Or if you really think you will be working.....Doesn't mean you can't still rehearse for one....a dry run...(pun entended)

There are other much more affordable single cell lights that are good for folks who just want to use lights and not be knowledgeable about Li-Ion cells. Lights using multiple Li-Ion cells are tricky to use safely and no one wants to be holding a bomb. The key though are the Li-Ion cells to get that sort of high performance. Once charged they self discharge (worst case) @ 3% per year. So they can stay on the shelf, in an insulated case, for a very long time and their performance maintains. I know of one high performance light that uses NiMh cells if Li-Ion scares you. It does lots of folks who don't understand them. Use NiMh Eneloop cells and they also have a very low rate of self discharge. That light can also use Li AA primary cells and alkaline AAs, but alkalines always leak so should only be used in a dire emergency and removed immediately after use.
If you want info I can point you in the direction since I've already written lots of this already elsewhere. A good light can be had for ~$25.
BTW, the light came in and it's a tiny thing for what it does. I'm looking forward for darkness to fall. But in the daytime indoors it's got huge output. It draws so much current that in 10 seconds the head is noticeably warm but not hot at that point. Significantly warmer after 20 seconds. I haven't run it on turbo longer than that yet. That'll happen tonight.

I picked up a flashlight at Eddie Bauer the other day....One of those that has an elastic band that goes over your head and positions the flashlight on your forehead... It's not like the flashlights you are talking about, that turns night into day...But I was actually very pleased...This is a tiny light but it definitely sends out a beam...It will be perfect for camping this Summer...I'm going to pick up maybe 3 more....One for the glove compartment in the car, and one for the bedside nightstand...Slip that on my head and it leaves my hands free....and a couple for camping...Very economical aswell....will be interesting to see how it does on batteries.. My next door neighbor has one of these headlamp flashlights that he uses for biking at night....I saw him the other night and his looked like he was a motorcycle...I need to find out what kind he's using....I googled em...this style seems to be real popular..Mine only has like 9 lumens and it works surprisingly good..I saw some online that have like 9000 lumens...Whoa!... I don't really understand the differences...But I'm going to find out... Attachments:

I have a simple 4AA batters flashlight with 350 lumins that I carry with me.

I wouldn't be without a head light. Older eyes love light. I even wear mine indoors when working on projects. Did I mention how older eyes love light?
Fuzzy, a good place to start reading is the Budget Light Forum. Lots of info over there, light reviews, etc'. It's named the budget light forum for a reason too. Most of the lights discussed there are fairly inexpensive (most). Other forums discuss $200+ lights, but that's pretty much not done there.

Most of the lights discussed there are fairly inexpensive (most). Other forums discuss $200+ lights, but that's pretty much not done there. I hear that....I'd never tried one before a couple weeks ago...now I don't know how I've gotten along without one all these years... And when things go bump in the night...Headlight on...and hands free....I could attach a light to my revolver...but this head light I have. A $200 gun light that doesn't need a rail, I don't have ...And holding a flashlight in my left hand under my revolver...Well one risks having the flashlight or hand come under the cylinder gap....and if that weapon needed to be discharged....with 38+P....that would not be a good scenario! With an auto-loader, this is not a factor...So in this situation the headlight is also an excellent option. Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch fame, says, it always cracks him up, when someone says, "I don't want to be carrying a flashlight when dealing with an intruder..That will show them where I am!" Clint said..."What do you want to do...Be carrying and pointing a loaded gun in your house in the DARK!!! You WANT them to know where you are....LIGHT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!!! And be very verbal, saying things like, "I'VE GOT A GUN...I'VE CALLED THE POLICE!!!" Etc. Etc...No, if someone is there, they will already know where you are...What you do want IS LIGHT...ha,ha,ha...Maybe you'll be able to SEE that it was only a squirrel that got in to the house...LOL! I so agree...light is our best friend...in so many situations...Like you said...from reading a book, working on projects, to cleaning my watch! And even a young man's eyes like your's or mine, cannot see in the dark...We are not Owls or Bats...}8^))

In this business it also can mean a metric ton of paperwork if something goes South.
