When I turned Brushes IX and X the thought was to try to turn a "Bee Hive" handle and one for a 25mm Fan shaped synthetic for myself. The "Bee Hive" handle turn out very nicely if I do say so myself.
Brush IX I am putting a 26mm Maggard Synthetic in. It's a BIG brush in a hefty handle.
Brush X turned out alright but the wood was a little worm eaten. So I figured I would keep it just to use it as a test piece. Brush IX had a split on the back side and after posting about it over at TSD I was told that I could fill the crack with either epoxy or a mix of wood glue and saw dust from the same piece of wood. To try out wood putty I first tried it on Brush X. Then I mixed up some Medium Oak and Natural Danish Oil Finish and applied it to brush X. I liked the look so much that I decided to finish Brush X with the fan shaped synthetic knot.
Yesterday I got some 24mm horse knots from VigShaving. After putting 2 coats of wax on Brush X I showed it to the Wife and son to get their opinion on the horse or fan knot. They both liked the looks of the horse over the fan. What do you think?
Bye the way, I mixed up some saw dust and wood glue and filled the crack on Brush IX. Then coated it with the same Danish Oil mix that I did on Brush X. Once it dries some more I will post pictures here. I am planning on putting a finishing coat of satin polyurethane on it.

Beautiful GarnerPW. I have a few scars on me too. That just adds uniqueness. Great work!

Just got Brush IX all done. I think it turned out very nicely. One of my better finishes yet. The first two photos are of the front of the brush. Very nice, Ken. Each of your brushes has great character, clearly hand-made with care and love. I've got Brush II chambered and ready for a TOBS shave tomorrow AM.
