I've wanted to try an injector for some time. But I really don't need another RAD. On The Shave Nook they have a traveling injector and it's my turn. I have it in hand, it's gone through my cleaning regimen, it's got a new blade and it's set on 4 waiting for my morning shave.
You can't imagine the amount of crud I got out of this shaving instrument and it's been cleaned I have no idea how many times already. I use Planisol-M. (google it)
I'm pumped.
All I need is some young nubile (female, just for the record; yeah, it's those biblical times again when we need to specify) cheerleaders to get my heart pumping and this old fart would probably drop from the excitement. ;D OK I admit it, not much goes on in rural Maine in the spring. Still waiting for the grass and leaves on the trees and all. So the littlest thing can put us over the edge and in need of the paddles.
Seriously, I've been wanting to try an injector. Seriously again, I don't need another RAD. And I really am pumped.
Results will be in SOTD.

What brand of blade? I like the Schick blade much more than the Personna. Be careful to not drag the edge along the stops when loading the blade, especially jf it doesn't have an old blade in it, it's very easy to do. I keep a few used blades in a dispenser just to put in the razor before loading a new one.
I think you'll like the injector, just try to avoid using much pressure because they are pretty light.

Glad to see someone else can get that excited over a shaving tool.

I've yet to try an adjustable injector but I'm really enjoying my injectors with a Chinese Schick blade right now. I'm glad you got to try one and it's working well so far. I look forward to your thoughts on how much it changes on the different settings.

Tom I believe I read that they are chinese Schick blades. Yes, I read the incredibly small print...chinese.
BTW, very nice razor. A Ferrari of the SE world.

But... is it a razor for me?
It shaved great, and I liked the slim profile of the head. It's a natural evolutionary step for the SE razor. The blade just needs to be wide enough to allow the razor to hold it and allow manufacture of the blade. Anything more for width, as in the SE blade we all know, just makes for a larger head with no benefit.
Gents, I've been using roundish handles for so long that anything else feels strange. I had a hard time trying to figure out a good way to hold the injector. The shape of the handle appears to want to suggest a full hand hold, and I just won't do that with an aggressive setting. I'm also accustomed to spinning the razor in my fingers and I had a heck of a time doing that. It really isn't built for that. I also think that the "built in" angle that the handle is set to, and the curve of the handle that contributes to that angle, also conspired to make it awkward for me. It works fine at what it's intended to do, it's just not what I'm expecting.
I wound up holding it at the very end of the handle with my fingertips. Basically defeating the purpose of the handle.
I followed the 5 Schick shaves with todays shave performed with an EverReady '29 and I couldn't help but notice that I thought the '29 just felt much better to me. And it gives great sound too. I missed that with the injector.
So while I enjoyed the opportunity to use an injector, I don't think I'll have one in my future.
Knowing the time frame of the Schick and that multi-bladed monstrosities were just coming on the scene, I have no doubt that the razor was designed for lower settings on the dial and a full hand holding it.

I can't sell it. It was a razor on tour. When I was done I sent it to the next gent.
Don't think it didn't work out. It actually did, just not in the way I expected. I now know that if I get an injector it needs to have a round straight handle. Mid aggressive+ is a must too. I don't need any more mild razors.

Not too many injectors have a round handle, the J types have an oval shape but they aren't really an aggressive model.

Not too many injectors have a round handle, the J types have an oval shape but they aren't really an aggressive model. The Stick Schick has a round handle and also a round ball at the end with the 4 speed shift pattern on the bottom. As for aggressiveness, I don't pay attention to that much, instead I base my like/dislike of a razor on how well it removes the whiskers from my face.

Can't believe I forgot the Stick, I have one and have been trying to find one for my son.

Well, I hope I'm putting this in the right area. It's my review of the Schick Adjustable.
First impression is that it's kinda "cartridge-like". I don't mean this as a bad thing. Just that it's weight and balance is reminicent of my "old" cartridge. The head is shiny and well made. I like a heavier razor and this one is light, but it's nimble and maneuverable. I liked the slightly longer handle but am so used to short handles that I had to constantly readjust to keep the head a little "heavier" with the leverage.
I used hot water prep and lathered up with VHD with 4 drops of glycerine added. I started off with the setting on 1 and it was a bit too slow going for me. In typical "John" fashion I cranked it all the way up to 8. It shaved very well and was quite comfortable. In 3 passes I got a BBS. However, I think my Schick G Series is a bit more aggressive and will give me a BBS in just 2 passes.
Of course this is only a first shave impression and my opinion will probably vary after a half dozen shaves. I'll keep ya posted.
John
