John except for the shave itself, our assessments of the razor are pretty much spot on. I'm betting they were trying to make their razors feel like an early cartridge razor.
I couldn't see much of the adjuster mechanism, since it's all hidden, but I think it's a plastic adjuster. I wonder if yours is worn? The one I had as a loaner gave me a 2 1/3 pass BBS at setting 4, but typically I'm easier to achieve a BBS than you are.

Negative on the adjuster not working. I can watch the little flat piece of steel move with each "click" of the adjuster. Anyway, I appreciate your input and will keep trying with this razor. So far I greatly prefer the G Series just for pure aggressiveness.
This morning, however, I used my Hyena 6/8" straight and even head shaved with it! Score.

What brand of blade? I like the Schick blade much more than the Personna. Be careful to not drag the edge along the stops when loading the blade, especially jf it doesn't have an old blade in it, it's very easy to do. I keep a few used blades in a dispenser just to put in the razor before loading a new one. I think you'll like the injector, just try to avoid using much pressure because they are pretty light. Good review John. It adds nicely to the thread. Look forward to hearing how it works out for the longer run. HT - this dragging the new blade when loading is rather interesting and I didn't pick up on it when I read over it. This would be blunting the blade just before using it - not a great plan! When you mentioned putting in a used blade before loading, this is when you don't have a loaded razor with your last blade in place yeah? Could you describe the dragging scenario a little? And - I have never noticed this could be an issue - just didn't pay attention to it. Thanx for bringing it forward.

If the razor is empty it's harder to load a new blade because it's forcing the blade compartment open so I keep a few used blades in a Schick dispenser to put in the razor before loading it. It's very easy to let the blade edge drag across one or both of the blade stops on some models if you don't pay close attention, and you're right, it does very little to improve the blades sharpness.

I honestly think that's what happened when I first tried injectors and was disappointed. It had a blade in it that was damn near rusted in place so the new blade got slightly canted while loading by having to force it in there and was dragged across the stops. Anyway, sure am glad you fellas convinced me to try another because I'm really loving my injectors now.

The scenario HT describes is something that is far to easy to let happen unless you know better... I sure didnt know better until having a few less than ideal injector shaves. Its another reason among others the I2 and a few other hydromagics along with all E model injectors, get so much love, just swing the door open and manually load a blade with no risk of dulling it. But yes, having a dull blade in there before sliding the new one in works great. Tom told me about this maybe a year ago, and its been injector bliss since.

As for aggressiveness, I don't pay attention to that much, instead I base my like/dislike of a razor on how well it removes the whiskers from my face. I like that....against my instincts,I've always tried to relate on the usual terms like aggressiveness for the sake of discussion, but this makes good sense to me. Injectors ? I tried a shick a long time ago and thought it was weird, really hated it.It felt dull.like it wasn't shaving anything, only irritating my skin.Of course I was using canned shaving stuff and didn't know much... If I revisited injectoers now and liked them it would really screw me up.The last thing I need is more razors and another type of oddball blade to buy.

Come on RazorX,
You know it would be all different now that you know how to build lather, do a multipass shave, etc. I think you'll love injectors now. I know I do. They rock! You know you want to try one again. grin

Ha! I don't even remember the last time I shaved with a DE razor....Might eventually take a look at injectors, but these days I'm up to my elbows in ER & GEM SE razors I haven't given a fair trial to.If a razor shows potential I like to give it a good long run..... Problem is.... most SE razors shave pretty darn well.

Y'all are convincing, but I don't want any more razors.... But I am researching in case I change my mind lol. Hard to figure these out,but early thoughts are Shick "J" Type might be a good fit. Any opinions on that ?
Another question:Using a GEM Cutlery Damaskeene as a standard, how do the shaves of injectors compare ?
Honestly I don't have a clue about injectors,my memory of a few trys with an injector a long time ago like maybe highschool is all bad.

That's like comparing a blonde to a redhead -- YMMV all the way. grin.
I really like the Schick Adjustable and set it up all the way to 9. Longer handle etc. gives me great shaves.
Remember though, when you were in high school you thought you knew everything. I never knew how to shave -- really shave -- until I got into wet shaving a year and a half ago. And I'm 46 years old. So, with that in mind, your experience with an injector might very well be totally different now than it was then. Just a thought. Also, you can pick 'em up dirt cheap, so why not have more choices.
And yes wchnu, people agree with you that I'm mean on my job, ALL THE TIME! LOL!
Shave on!
John
