I have a bunch of Heljestrand blades in good shape that I assumed were all the same size. I was wrong. I think Fred earlier in this thread warned to check the wedge sizes. I did not. Well, I honed one, stropped, and preparing to shave and tried to put the blade into my Henckels Rapide when I noticed that if one side of the blade catches the blade stops, the other side of the blade does not. So I ended up getting out my calipers and measuring my razors and segregating by which ones need the "larger" (~41 - 42mm) blade and which ones need the "smaller" (<40mm) blade. Then I segregated my blades by size. The frustrating thing is that the Heljestrand blades I've got all look identical but they are sized differently. Some are 42mm, some are 39mm, and some are in between. The Henckels blades and Kampfe/Star blades I have seem to be much more consistently sized and on the larger side, 41 - 42mm although my sample size is very small and not enough to really base an opinion yet.

Yep....been there, done that.
