For those of you who have outfitted your lather catchers with wood handles, I have a few questions for you:
-Who made/turned the handles for you?
-What dimensions are the handles?
-Could you provide a photo comparing the original metal handle with the wood handle?
Trying to decided whether or not I want to replace the metal handles with wood (I'm leaning towards the wood).

I'm not sure but the man who would know would be Jayaruh (Jim), our resident wood expert. If he doesn't see this you might pm him.

Heres my ER Lather Catcher with a wood handle made by Sir Jay... And heres with the original metal handle: Both look great...and its even better having the option! That perticular wooden handle is made to the exact dimensions of the original ER wooden handles...but Jay has several options aswell...all look great! Sir Jay is a true Artiste!

I'm currently away from my den, but when I get back I'll answer more thoroughly and provide a side-by-side photo. The answer to the first question is one you have already heard may times before: jayaruh . He is an extraordinary craftsman and an overall great gentleman!!! As to your final comment on metal vs wood -- I like both, but wood is my general preference and the handle that Jim made is my absolute favorite -- I like the length, weight and overall ergonomics. Found a pic....but I'll follow up with more comparing metal, original wood (ebonoid) and by a ruler for dimensions.

Thank you all for chiming in! And thank you Jim for hopping on the thread!
I've visited your website a number of times, didn't know it was you haha.
I'm particularly interested in the smaller handles you started making early last year.

I see that you said your's are 37% larger than the original. Can you make one the same size/dimensions as the original?

My original attempt was 37% bigger. I did it from pictures. After I got the ER handle, I measured it and made the ones above that are very close to the ER handle.

I think I have one of those. I will try to get a side by side with the original and the Jayaruh.

Ive turned a couple of wood handles for my 1914 and Gem Jr. Love the feel of wood over the metal.
