Well, I am down to loading my brush for just 10-12 seconds. I wet the brush with cold water, use it to wet my face, and then load it for 10-12 seconds. I always have more lather than I can use. It is better to have too much than too little, but I still don't like to waste.

Williams is cheap, I'm going to load it like a rented mule! LOL. In my mind I'm visualizing a boar brush mounted to drill with the speed selector on high. "Alright, Williams, it's lather time!"

You could make a video and say, "a lot of folks think Williams is hard to lather and you need to really load the brush. It only takes me 10 seconds to load my brush" cut to scene of brush madly spinning in mug.

Always good to see Williams get love. The 30 day challenge is one of the best ways to figure out a new variable, be it soap, razor, blade, etc. Keep everything the same except for 1 item, and use that item for a solid 30 days. I guarantee you will see improvement in the product and your technique in regard to said product. I've been mixing and matching brushes and razors so far, but I'm going to take your advice and pick one razor and one brush for the duration of this. Plus, it will (temporarily) reduce the clutter on my shave shelf. Or there will be more room for after shave. My razor of choice will be Hawk V2 AC razor Cremo Horsehair. Not sure but I think someone here said they liked the Schick Proline AC blades the best. I have a pack of Feather and Kai. I tried my first Kai the other day and didn't much care for it. The Feather before it seemed a lot smoother. Back on the horse tomorrow and see if it's any better. Might change it out just to make sure it isn't a one-off if I get the same result tomorrow. I will say as a result of some of my rough shaves recently, I can confirm that the Williams 5-1 balm works well. Today an unmentionable chewed me up. It's a mild razor, but I had to chase the BBS and paid the price. Looking forward to the simplicity tomorrow and the rest of my Williams month. We'll see but after my Williams month, I may try to take things in week long blocks. Soap, brush and razor for the week, the only variance being AS/Balm I use.

I have been doing something like that mostly because my GEM 1912 is the only razor I have that is in working order.

Used the Hawk V2 today with the Kai blade. It was about the same as before, but I came away with no irritation. I think this is not as smooth of a blade as the Feather, but I think it may help my technique. Angle seems to more critical due to this blade than the Feather. I concentrated more today on keeping the angle spot on and came away with a DFS, fair bit of sting from the AS but no irritation. The shave is not as close as I can get with a Feather in this razor, but it's good enough and I'm sure will improve as I go through the rest of my Williams month with the same set up.

I have given serious thought to starting this thread idea. It works well across the street, as it is for nebies and vets alike. Basically, it's a focus for 30 days, one razor, one soap, one brush, learn the technique and master it. It works for anything, razors, brushes, soaps etc. It also allows others to hone in the right load and how long to lather a particular soap, or how long can a blade shave well, etc.
If there is enough interest, I'd happily start it, and keep it going. End thread hijack

Razorock Hawk V2 Kai Captain Titan Mild blade Cremo/Vie Long Horse Hair Brush Adidas Dyanamic Pulse AS Shave was an improvement over yesterday's. Worked more on angle and fewest passes possible. I really like any touch ups at the end to be done ala Fuzzy with only witch hazel or just plain water. You can really hear the blade and KNOW you are on them whiskers. Went with a little more modern aftershave today.

Glad I could be of use for in the aftershave Dept. I like that one. Not expensive, buy works and smells decent enough.

Razorock Hawk V2 Kai Captain Titan Mild blade Cremo/Vie Long Horse Hair Brush Williams Mug Soap Avon Tai Winds
I have to say, I'm still not crazy for this Kai blade. Tomorrow, I'm switching it out for a Feather. It's better than it was but still is rougher on my neck than I'd like.

Razorock Hawk V2 Kai Captain Titan Mild blade Cremo/Vie Long Horse Hair Brush Williams Mug Soap Avon Tai Winds I have to say, I'm still not crazy for this Kai blade. Tomorrow, I'm switching it out for a Feather. It's better than it was but still is rougher on my neck than I'd like. Funny how our memory can play tricks on us. I seem to remember the Feather blades being smoother than the Kai. I used a Feather blade today and really didn't think it improved things to any extent. I added a little more water the Williams for pass two as I was thinking a little more slickness might help. Things seemed about the same. So at least this time around, a "blade is a blade". It's not a bad razor by any means, but as to smoothness of the shave (while shaving) , I give it a 5 and my Gem Junior a 9. I'm going to keep at it, I know it will shave a bit better than what I'm able to get out of it at the moment.
