Very nice! Too bad about the blade not staying in, but what the heck, it's still a great collector!

A modern Schick stays firmly seated in my F. Something must be damaged deformed, I think. Post a good picture of the head and we can try do a comparison.

Wow, hate to hear that. I have a few old blades that were made prior to the mid-50's, they are solid without the cutouts that the Hydro-magic required. Visibly they don't appear to be any thicker than modern ones. I have found what HT has found with the old blades - and indeed they are the ones w/o the cut outs. Perhaps somebody pried it open a bit at some point to get a stuck old blade? Do the gaps on each side appear the same or maybe one is wider than the other??

Correction about the problem, and my apologies gents.
A type - very poor loose fitting blade, just slips right out either side, not safe to shave with. Odd because razor head appears undamaged.
F type- blade fits, with some play. Shave is far too mild to be usable. Blade has some vertical slip, almost like the head of the razor should be using a blade that is "taller" to assure a snug fit.
All in all, and I hate to say it, but I think these 2 fine vintage injectors will be nothing more than shelf sitters, conversation pieces if you will.

I've heard of this before, but it's been awhile. Somehow the part that holds the blade in tight gets sprung--probably by someone fiddling with it.
Sorry, but you'll just have to look for another one. If you are looking for an aggressive shave, I'd pass on it anyway as it's fairly mild compared to the G's and earlier models..

Two cased F's were sold at around $200 within the last three days. The reality is, though, that at least one of these was purchased by an overseas buyer through a local company that bids for them. Judging by the feedback numbers on the second one, I'd guess that it probably sold that way as well. Unless something has drastically changed, I'd say that a decent cased on should still cost around $60-$70. That's just my opinion, though.

Color me apathetic, the feeding frenzy on some stuff has gotten way out of control It's not the money, razors are one of my least expensive indulgences,I think it's that I have too many fairly inexpensive razors that perform incredibly well.
