Are the non-Hydromagic I models good too? They are certainly are cheaper and easier to find... For me, yes. i have a couple white handles and one black handle without the HM lever and like them every bit as much as the HM.

Like I said, all of my I types perform great. I'm glad I finally gave injectors a spin, been lurking & watching what you've been saying for a while. Before getting into the game I would have guessed the "E" types would be my thing, the older stuff usually is.I still haven't shaved with an "E" but the "I" type I'm using will be extremely tough to beat. Marc, If you'd like to borrow my E2 just shoot me a PM. It's one of the Es that you can open the head similar to the HydroMagic. I think you'd like it.

Greetings
I have three Schicks an E3 a G8 and an I1.
My opinion is much the same as everybody else's in that the E3 is the most aggressive by quite a good margin the G8 is in the middle and the I1 is fairly gentle.
I find they all shave very well, but like most milder razors with the I1 you do need more touching up if you are seeking an ultra close shave, this in no way alters the fact that it is an excellent shaver.
What I would say is that as Marc has discovered the later models are very forgiving razors and you can 'throw' them around your face in a reckless manor and get away with it; not that you necessarily should. This is certainly not the case with the E3 which needs to be used 'properly' and I would guess that all of the E models are similar in terms of aggression.
I personally think I like the G8 the most, it cuts well enough without being too fierce.
It is interesting to note that my G8 is in tip top condition I doubt it has had much use, but like Tom's when empty if you shake it, it rattles but is perfectly tight when a blade is inserted, perhaps they are meant to be like this?
What I find strange is how they discontinued the models that opened up for cleaning in the E and G range it must surely have been a big advantage and I suspect Schick or later Eversharp thought the same as they introduced the Hydromagic which must solve all the problems of cleaning.
Regards Dick

Regards Dick I definitely feel like I can shave quickly and recklessly with the I2 yet I seem to get a surprisingly close shave,I can't ask for more than that. Might be from the safety bar pressure making whiskers stand up or something else. What impresses me is how much I can accomplish with my initial WTG pass.

Very true. Most all of the injectors give a great quick shave. Not always on the level of a good SE but passable in a rush. I am going to break out my model A for my shave before work.

Aye caramba!! I have lots of work to do on these injectors. I still only have the C - well I also have a stick and have used it, but didn't appreciate it too much. I have lots of catching up to do! Excellent info on these razors gents. I am starting to get that itch......! Yes,I appreciate all the info that's rolled in,I've ignored these for far too long. I didn't want to like injectors, even now I wish I didn't,but when I step back and look objectively, I can't ignore the fine close effortless shaves I'm getting.

I picked up an I1 Black Handle/Silver Head, got to try it this morning.Shaved nice for sure, yet for me it seemed a bit milder. The blade cover on the I2 is Identical in size to my G4 but the blade cover on the I1 is wider front to back, and the safety guard seems to run further out from the cutting edge of the blade. I don't own a White Handle/Gold Head I1 and I'm wondering if it's blade cover & safety guard are identical to the black I1 or more like the I2 ? When looking at the heads, the silver&black I1 seems a lot like it "might" be a precursor to the J Types that followed.

Marc, I have both a HydroMagic I2 and a white handle/gold head I1. I'll try to remember to bring them out and take a comparison pic for you.

Brian...If you get time to that would be great,I've tried to search for a pic of the white handle version, but no luck finding one that shows me the view I was hoping to see. I need a little more angle and pressure when using my black I1,still a really nice shave but for me it requires more work than shaving with the I 2. As I said earlier gentlemen, please excuse my newness,I'm late to the party,I had no interest at all in injectors except the Stick Shick "L" type I acquired for the heck of it but found it to be so mild that I saw no use for it but to give it to my wife for shaving her legs.

As I was in the process of acquiring an "E 2" didn't take Brian up on his generous offer. The "E 2 I acquired was a Made In Canada model and it seemed to shave about the way I've heard the E's described.I like it well enough but still found myself much more interested in my I2H-M Today I cleaned up a 2nd "E 2" that arrived the night before and shaved with it. Extremely nice....This new "E 2" is a Made In USA model and feels every bit the whisker terrorist the Canadian "E 2" is but ULTRA SMOOTH....I can see how people easily cut themselves with E's but this one feels like magic. A light razor that feels "alive" with feedback that resonates into my fingertips and ears Not as likely to bite as it's Canadian brother yet every bit as effective.Gap looks identical on both "E 2's" but the blade edge to front of safety bar distance looks to be a little more on the USA "E 2" Tom spoke of manufacturing differences affecting performance, this is a perfect example and to me seems more common among Schick's than with SE razors. This one will have a home with me always.

Hi All!, Well I must say for me it's my early E-2 that I dig. C-3 a very close 2nd and my G. I have an I-1 and I-2HM . Both very smooth but coming from OCs' and slants, I find them too mild. I've been enjoying all, though limited , blade choices and prefer vintage, especially the 74s'. I even used an nos carbon steel blade in the C-3 and it did fine. My Gillettes are languishing, FaTip and Joris even my Tre'7c. No they don't need a new home ----lolol. But these Schicks, I'm digging them all. Enjoy your shaves.
