I have a Schick Hydro-Magic on the way. So that I don't break it can someone tell me how it works? Do you slide the lever to the side?

No, it pulls straight out from the handle by lifting the end of the lever. It will open the frame but the blade stays locked in, makes it easier to rinse it out. Make sure it's fully closed before you change blades.

Those are really nice razors Alan,I don't flip mine open much, only something like just before every 4th blade change for a through hot water rinse beneath the faucet.
One of my favorites, hope you enjoy it,,,

Congratulations Alan....a real classic....Like 'razorx' I don't open mine much....If I get a little soap clog, or sometimes when I clean it with toothpaste and a tooth brush...Other than that I don't see the need...but when I do, I love having the option...;)Let us know after the 'maiden voyage' your impressions...

Well I tried it and really liked the shave. It seems to be more agressive than an "L" type. One thing I neglected to say was that it is not an "I2". It's a K2 (alright, no snickering please). I wanted to try the Hydro Magic option but most I2s were really pricey. I saw this K2 going for a song. It's in really great shape. The box has lots of cracks but still opens and closes. The cardboard and instructions are still inside. What I forgot is how long the handles are on these. I can use it but it's not comfortable. I'll probably get rid of it. So anyway I got to try the hydro magic option. I have since acquired a white and gold I1 in immaculate condition. As soon as I get some more blades I will try it. If I like it I will put the money out for the I2.

You know Alan....The H-M option is cool....but I almost never actually use the lever....If I get a soap clog I'll use it, but I haven't gotten a clog since I can't remember when....and normally a couple extra swishes under hot water clears it anyway....I think the real beauty of this razor is the shave, balance, looks and the grip feels great....The aggression factor is of the 'Goldie-locks' type...not aggressive and not mild...just right....And all these positives are equally the same for the I1...
If I was looking for an I2...I swear I would grab an I1 and wait til I could find an I2 at the price that you want to pay.....If I had more than one I would lay one on you my friend...But I do think you will dig the I1 just as much...and it has less to break...I inherited my Pop's I2 and the pin in the lever broke off back in the early '80's...If I knew then what I know now.....LOL...But at the time I grabbed a new L type and never missed the H-M system but I did miss that handle...

Thanks Lloyd and Fuzzy for the offer but I am good. I ordered some Chicks and have some Platinum Plus vintage to last me till the Chicks get here. Since trying the I1 I think I will be happy with it and will not bother to hunt down an I2. The K2 is great but the handle is just too long for me. Next week I'll put it up in the WTT column in case any one has a wife who would use it.
