How do you classify the Classic Shaving Cobra? Is this an "other" injector? A straight on a stick? Or just an odd ball SE razor? Anyway. Today's shave was with my Cobra. It is a hard act to follow.

I guess I don't consider the Cobra to be an injector since the blade isn't "injected" in the classic sense that is associated with using the dispenser with the key. I'll be interested in others opinions.

I've always wondered what to call it besides FANTASTIC!!! It is not a normal single edge as it uses disposable straight razor blades not the standard SE blades. Like you say it is not an injector because the blade gets placed in the head like a DE or SE blade not injected. It is not a shavette because it has a safety bar. I can easily figure out what it ISN'T but it is hard to figure out what it IS

I really wanted to like the Cobra, but the handle just doesn't work for me. I recently drug out a PAL adjustable that I've never cared a whole lot for and realized the handle on it is very similar to the Cobra.

I agree with you Tom. Not an injector because you don't inject the blade to load the razor. Call me a purist but that is just the way I feel. As for the razor itself I might have wanted to try one as I love my injectors but when I saw the cost of the thing I told myself "No Way!"
Maybe you call it an "Injector Style" razor but not a true injector. As for where to talk about it I guess you could include it in the Other Injectors Forum because that is the style razor it is closest too.

Hummm. It almost calls for it's own little space on the forum.

Hummm. It almost calls for it's own little space on the forum. Shave with it and you will see it DEMANDS it's own space If I were forced to pigeon hole it, I would have to say it is a straight razor in a safety razor handle.

Hummm. It almost calls for it's own little space on the forum. I would have to say it is a straight razor in a safety razor handle.Well that would make it the latest incarnation of the 1912...lol... My first thought is like HT's & Possum's...You don't inject the blade...So, not an Injector... It is deffinitely a single-edge....So I believe it fits very nicely in the "Other SE Razor Brands"... The only thing is, there are already 5 pages between 2 threads in the "OSERB" section.. So maybe Fuzzy's idea of its own Thread isn't a bad idea...
I remember a while back, some one was talking about making a holder to use DE blades broken in half or Shavette blades in a 1912 or '24 razor....The Cobra is a similar idea only using the Feather Shavette Blade in a safety razor...Which would put it in the 'Other SE' catagory...I guess...
My purpose for touching down here was just to share the sentiment, that I don't think, and have never thought of the Cobra as an 'Injector'....It really is more of a new chapter in SE's...

Single edge razor with a proprietary blade. There have been lots over the years. Kind of reminds me of an Enders Speed Razor.
