Greetings I am pretty sure you will find the only difference between these two razors is the handle shape and length. The cutting head is the same. The handle on the J3 Golden 500 is very long. The I1 and I2 are 3 7/8 inch long and the J3 is 5 1/4 inches long. I personally find that the shave is the same although I only have the I1 non Hydro-Magic version of the I model. I find the J3 handle to be way too long but many Injector users love it for that very reason. IMHO the handle on the two I models, although ugly, is just about the perfect shape, size, feel and grip for a lightweight razor handle. Regards Dick.

The frames are the same, like Dick said the handles are different. There may be some differences between how individual razors feel, but that's probably due to slight manufacturing differences and/or how they were handled and used over the years.

I think they both look great, although my personal preference is for the shorter handle....They both are high performance machines, that do a wonderful shave but with very little user trauma...meaning they both feel pretty mild, but remove the whiskers very efficiently...

Like the other gents said, the shave is really the same. After using the I2 and I2 HM, i didnt have a need for the long handle J's anymore, so mine ended up in my womans shave den. She likes the long handle for the obvious reason, leg shaving.

Frames about the same allowing for manufacturing differences etc as Tom mentioned.
"I" series handles: as close to perfect as it gets and greatly enhance the razor's handling.I think they caught lightning in a bottle when they designed these razors.
"J" series handles: too round, too skinny, too long.My wife shaves her legs with a pink Lady Eversharp which I believe is a spin off of the J.

As always fellas, thanks for your time and patience. I'm thinking that I wouldn't love the round handle as the other shape allows the user to "index" how the razor is lines up with the face. I'm going to bid on the "I Series" handled razor and see what happens. Thanks again to all.

Grumble grumble...... It's nice, but not a hydramagic. My fault. The seller didn't describe it as one. Shaves nice, but kinda tame for my tastes. I had to press so hard to get a close shave I got some razor burn. I don't get razor burn normally. Oh well. Still on the hunt.

John My I1 is definitely milder than than any I2 HM I've tried, but I've also heard it said that they shave the same.Who knows ? Manufacturing differences etc....Damn Shicks keep ya guessing.....Hope the Magic one's not going to be too mild for you John....Good Hunting.
