I've read a lot about Whipped Dog knots so I ordered two, a 20mm pure black badger and a 20mm silvertip badger, then I had to decide what to put them in. I chose these two, both of which are in excellent to near mint condition. The original knot in the red and white C40 worked pretty well, but lost a hair or two every use, the knot in the blue and white F40 also works very well and doesn't shed at all, but I have another F40 that is identical that I'm leaving in stock factory original condition. Here they are before changing out the knots: The C40 got the pure black badger, while the new home for the silvertip is the F40: The lettering on both is in such good condition that I didn't do a thing with them.

Nice!
You know we'll need to debrief you after you've had a chance to use them, right? :-)

Thanks! Yeah, Brian I'll be sure to give a full report on them. I like to give the silicone adhesive several days to fully harden before using the brush so it will be sometime next week.I'm looking forward to trying the WD knots, what's been your experience with them?

I've never used them, hence my curiousity.

The new knots are a big improvement, they look great! I don't have much experience with badgers (other than being chased by one). Is there a big difference between black and silvertip?

Thanks, Alan. The difference I've noticed is that the silvertips seem a bit more dense, but they are both soft.

Alright, here's an after action report. They both work very well, the silvertip lost 8-10 hairs both times I've used it, but that hopefully won't last much longer, and it feels a bit denser than the black badger. Right now, I think I prefer the black badger a bit more. Here's what they look like after one practice lather and one real life use.
