I usually pop into The Italian Store a couple of times a month. They have a great selection of authentic Italian groceries, a fantastic deli and fresh made lunches (sooo good) Today I spotted a small section of Italian soaps, talcs etc, they also had a good selection of Proraso products (all straight from Italy with no English on the packaging). I didnt buy any Proraso but I did pick up a cheap Omega brush and some Omega cream. The brush (model 10018) is light weight plastic, but I like the shape and feel of it. Not crazy about the wet pig smell, but that will go away after a while I thought the Omega cream would be like Proraso, a soft soap, but it is more like a cream in a tub. It does smell alot like Proraso (Menthol/Eucalyptus) but it does have a different texture. I tried the brush and made a couple of lathers on my hand, it makes quite a slick lather with next to no bubbles in it no matter how much water I added.. Does anyone else use the Omega cream? Both products appear to be good value but I will report back when I try these out a few times.

For sure that was a good deal you got there. You're lucky around my area (even further away) I can't find anything wet shaving related. In my book you can't go wrong with Omega period.

I have an Omega 10019 (black) and it's a fantastic knot. The handle as you perceived is hollow but it's a fantastic performer. I have no idea how Omega makes such a fantastic brush for such an incredibly low price. FWIW, I've used the 10019 for well over a year.
I'm most curious to know if the brush requires more than an initial washing to break it in. the Omegas I've purchased recently have all been pre broken in.

The Omega boars I have had have been great. The tips were all soft out of the box and the brush seems to retain it's backbone. Density wise they seem to me to be compromise between a Semogue and a Vulfix; the Semogue being very dense and the Vulfix not very dense. I'm not sure but I think Omega also makes many kinds of other brushes like paint brushes and such. It might be that with all they sell overall, the quantity of total sales helps them keep there prices down.
