Veg, without a doubt!
Rose of Bulgaria a close second; Old Spice, Brut (Original or Musk), Tabac, Jovan Musk, Clubman/Musk/Special, etc follow ...

My absolute favorite at the moment is Alt-Innsbruck cologne, though from time to time I enjoy a splash of good old Tabac

Coming back to this thread, I would like to make a small adjustment to my list from 2014: Meißner Tremonia. The splash is very nice, but the balm is the best I know. And I know more than a few. Simply the best in the market at this point in time.
As an aside, I stumbled across this in an English crime novel recently, and thought it worth sharing: "The auld-mannie scent of Old Spice wafted off him like cheap vodka."

Mine was Portlans General Store's Whiskey After Shave Balm. Quite thick, which is great for harsh, winter climates. They don't make it anymore, though.

They had a bunch of open bottles at my Walgreens for folks to sniff....Must have had some bottles opened on the shelves....anyway...I went down the line and the results were interesting....I have always loved Clubmans....that was no surprise...But Aqua Velva Ice Blue wasted everything else...even some newer much more expensive stuff....And everyone around was in agreement....Can't understand why Sinatra didn't dig it....lol! Must have had a "perfect nose"......no holes!....lmao!

I would have to agree with Aqua Velva. It smells better than anything else, and isn't as drying as Clubman because it has glycerin not just straight alcohol.

I have probably 20 or more that I rotate around. AV old spice and clubman are favorites. Stetson english leather and british sterling are great. I really enjoy the pinaud line. I still feel the same here. AV however is the most used here these days,. Part of the signature shave.

I enjoy Tabac on occasion, great memories of my paternal Grandfather using the shave soap with his straight, followed by Tabac AS and plenty of toilet tissue for the nicks... I think it was 5-6 palm strops before the shave, tough old Sicilian was he, great memories.
Another I enjoyed was Catalyst by Halston, really good moisturizer with a Spicy Lavender scent... came in a gimmicky test tube shaped glass and the moisturizers and scented splash were clearly separated, had to shake to mix the AS.
Now I prefer to use a Witch hazel based scented AS I make myself... during the Winter, I use an unscented balm I make using unrefined/ filtered organic shea butter, Avocado & hemp oil... a little dab is all it takes.
Favorite old-time Drugstore AS is Mennen Skin Bracer Original & Cool Spice, still have some I use on occasion.

As to my previous post...I remember how impressive the Aqua Velva was that day...
But I have gravitated to Clubman Original...I like all the Pinaulds...but no matter what I use, I need a splash of Clubman, I just want it....have to have it! And I usually add a small splash of AV Musk to give depth to whatever else I use...Consequently, I use a splash of Clubman followed by a small hit of AV Musk 90% of the time....
And I agree with the witch hazel....I use it everyday, for my clean-up pass, ala Fuzz-man!
And if the occasion calls for a cologne, I've been using Tom Ford's Noir EdT....this past year, that has pushed Habit Rouge out of the signature spot...}8^D

I posted in this thread in 2014 and it's interesting to see how my tastes have evolved.
These days I enjoy classics like Pinaud Clubman, Special Reserve, and of course Lilac Vegetal. I like Old Spice (the version from India, supposedly the original formula), Aqua Velva and occasionally Tabac.
I also like some modern artisan products, most notably those from Chiseled Face Groomatorium such as Ghost Town Barber and Sherlock - just about any of their scents except Midnight Stag. I also like Stirling Sharp Dressed Man and Barbershop.
I've also re-discovered a few modern classics such as English Leather and Grey Flannel.
There's more - I think I may have too many aftershaves.
Actually, I know I do.

I posted in 2014 as well and since then the number of my favourites has increased sensibly: Alt-Innsbruck and Tabac are still there, and they have been joined by several Pinauds (Original, Special Reserve, Musk, the Veg), a couple of Bay Rums (Pinaud again and Layrite) and a few other classics (Brut, Floid, Aqua Velva and Mennen Skin Bracer). These will always have a place in my rotation, but for me at the moment the undisputed number 1 are Myrsol in general and Antesol, Emulsion and Plastic Shave in particular. Their scents are not so complex and lasting as, say, Pinaud's but when it comes to the healing and soothing properties on skin they are far better than any other AS I've ever used.
