It looks mechanical, like a precision shaving instrument. Very nice!

Nice looking razor! I don't mean to imply that your leather worker won't do a good job, but Neil Miller from the UK specializes in strops. His site: www.strop-shop.co.ukHe might even have one in stock.

Those 7day sets are beautiful! I have an empire complete with strop and blades and hope to get a 7 day set sometime in the future. Do you plan on using it at all?

Vedy, vedy nice!!!! Those 7 day sets are absolutely stunning! And you seem to have a very nice one there!! Congrats.
One day I too shall be the proud owner of one of those beauties!
Miller does make straight strops - have never heard of him making a safety strop. Not to say it can't be done, but it wouldn't be cheap through Neil if he did agree to try making you one.
A better option may be to try and pick up an Empire model in a box with a strop. If you get a nice crusty old one in a beat up box you can them for well under ten bucks if you luck out. As long as it has a strop, it would be suitable for your model - and would load into your strop holder in that 7 day kit as well. The right solution at the right price!!
In the mean time, if you have an extra Valet C strop, you can trim it ever so slightly (1/8") with a straight edge and a nice sharp carpet knife and you are in business too.
If you do go to a leather shop, it needs to be quite thin but you need some good stiffness to the leather or it becomes quite difficult to strop. Thin and stiff is hard to come by in modern tanning products.
that is my .07 cents (inflation ya know!)

Thanks everyone. I do plan on using it as soon as I can get the strop situation sorted out and assuming the blades aren't too dull..... I went to the leather store and of course, forgot the razor. I almost didn't go in, but I did. I tried to explain what I was looking for but the young girl couldn't grasp and finally said, 'I think I'll have to see the razor.' (She says this after I told her about 20 times that I really need to bring the razor in so she could understand. ;D ) That conversation had a language barrier in english. I would much prefer to make one up, or have one made, with new leather. I feel that new leather would strop better than an old one. Or would I be wrong in thinking that?

Neil made the ill fated first strop for my Valet. It was around $30 with shipping. I think I told that story. Not his fault, his part in the deed was nothing but first class.

In my brain I thought I had commented on this already!! lol! That is really cool info ShadowsDad. I think I missed that story - was in the original original, or here?? Before the ill fating, was it working out as a Valet strop?? Did you post a pic? Did it have the valet style arrow head end for threading or ?? So cool!! Thanx for sharing this info. This would be a wonderful option for such a gorgeous set as the Wilky 7 day. Rhodium plated aren't they?

I emailed Neil the other day about making a strop for the Wilkie, although responded that he didn't have an original as an example to use and would need the dimensions. Length, width and approx. thickness. Cost was not discussed.
