I finally got to try this. I had heard it was good basic stuff. Prior to ordering it I read a couple of reviews that said there might be some quality issues with it as it would not lather. I received a tub about 2 weeks ago and came to the same conclusion. It smells great and seems to provide cushion and protection, I just can't seem to get it to lather. Could this stuff be brushless?

Being pretty much the only Canadian made shaving cream out there, it ended up being the first shave cream i ever tried. I don't particularly care for the lemon scent, but I have always ended up with great lather from their regular/original shave cream. Actually, it can be whipped to a wonderful meringue like quality which is very nice. I use it as any other type of cream.
The tubs are giant, and my current tub was probably made in 2008/9. I don't know if there are quality control issues but I would be happy to send you a sample of the soap I have. It might be worth comparing to see. Perhaps my water is softer/harder than yours, or maybe they have changed. They do make more scents now so perhaps they have made a bunch of changes to try and take advantage of wet shaving popularity and quality is down? It is my understanding it has been used in barber shops up here for years.
I would like to send you some so you can see what you think.

I'm still working on a tub that I got two years ago. It produces great lather for me with normal effort. I've also read about some quality control issues with at least one recent batch, so maybe you picked up one of those. Although I've pretty much evolved into one of those "soap guys", Fraser's is a one of a very short list of creams I would purchase again (given that the lather quality continues live up to the expectations created by my current tub, of course).
