Yesterday I got an extremely close shave with my PIF'd OCMM. No cuts, a minor weeper and an acceptable level of irritation. Would I use it on a regular basis? No. I can see why it is so well regarded as it shaves as close as my Cobra and my Schick E1, but I find it awkward to use. I have to keep it flat against my skin. If I lift the handle at all I get cut. Shaving under the nose is difficult. I do a down pass and a sideways pass but cannot get close enough. I am not saying it is a bad razor (it is actually quite unique), I just don't think it's right for my face. I have lots of scar tissue and often need to glide over uneven terrain. The Cobra and E1 allow me to change blade angle where I cannot with the OCMM. Basically, I find it a bit nerve wracking to use.
These Micromatic razors are the only SEs I don't enjoy shaving with. There are other MMs I would be willing to try if they are milder and more flexible regarding blade angle. I would like to PIF the OCMM to someone who can enjoy using it along with a clog pruf I got in a multi-razor deal.
Please let me know if you are interested.

Very generous of you Matt. Sometimes certain razors just don't work out for folks. I love both the injector type head and the MicroMatic type. As they are different types they require different techniques. I have to watch it when I switch from injectors to the micros or I can end up with a mess. Is there any other type you'd like to try? The rest of the micro family is pretty easy to use.
PS You never told us the cats names, great pic.

RE: Cats The big brown guy is named Rumbles. I gave him that name because as a kitten his whole body would shake when he purred. The little white female is his sister. She's called Dandelion Puff (Puff for short) because of her medium length fluffy white coat. She is an average size cat at about 8-9 lbs. He is pretty large at 12-13 lbs. We put him on a diet when he got up to 18 lbs,

Like Alan said, they don't work for everyone. Early on I didn't care for the open comb version, but took to the Clog-pruf instantly. After getting more experience I spent more time learning the open comb and now it's one of my favorites. I don't shave the mustache area so I don't have to deal with that issue, but I can see where it would be a bit tricky.

You led me into what I was going to suggest Tom. I've had the same thing happen, many times. I'll go back to a razor that hasn't worked and all of a sudden I wonder what the big deal was and why didn't I like the razor. The latest one was my Kampfe '13 LC. I'd try it every once in awhile and it was always far too aggressive. Then I tried it a few months ago and it was just the nicest razor. Strange how that happens.
I would just put it to the side for a time. Since it was a PIF it won't cost you anything to do that. Come back to it and see if you like it more at that time. That way you won't need to buy one to try it again. If you want to PIF it 5 years from now you still have that option.

Brian is soo on the money with this (but then he generally is... ....I've been amazed at how my opinion on razors and blades can change over time...
