Cheers, Alan! It's not perfect, but actually the camera set to this sort of macro picks up all manner of things that simply are not evident to the naked eye and so, what I have is a perfectly presentable gold tone as pictured in the SOTD style picture at the end.
It's a lovely razor which gives a beautiful shave. Compared to the solid bar Micromatic, it is more aggressive and while shaving you can feel the crenelated bar. I have yet to use my open comb Micromatic, but I think this will be a mild version of that. All three make a wonderful set of razors capable of meeting any circumstance.

Hi Paul. I was trying to figure out what it was that you were referring to as an MMCC in other posts. I think I now may now get it. The Clog Prufs I've seen come two ways; 12 tooth comb and 17 tooth comb. I'm thinking you may be referring to the 17 tooth as crenelated bar MMCC and the 12 tooth as the solid bar MMCP. If you want to see pics of each you can go to a thread I posted here entitled "Need Clog Pruf Dentist". (Page 3, GEM Razors Forum) Let us know what you think because it doesn't matter what we call it but if there is a MM variant out there that we do not know we will all be on the hunt for one. Actually tell me first so I can corner the market on them (Ha Ha).
On a different subject, does your MMOC (open comb) have two little nubs on the blade plate like your MM above? Some do and some don't.
Take care, Alan

Still understanding the nomenclature, maybe I'm using the wrong abbreviation ... MMOC - Open Comb MMCP - Clog Pruf MMCC - Closed Comb MMCC is perhaps not a good abbreviation since it is the solid bar I'm referring to. ... this one, next to the Valet: Interesting to read about the different teeth on the Clog Pruf. I'll have to get the other one now

They sure do clean up nice, don't they? The plating on them is pretty thick and can take some polishing. The Micromatic with the solid guard bar has been nick named the Bullet Tip, and in some old ads it was called the Flying Wing, but I've never seen any factory given name on either the razor or the package.I think the Clog-pruf is the only Micromatic given an official model name. Here is a picture illustrating what Alan said about the two versions of the Clog-pruf with the different number of teeth on the guard bar.

Well, well ... thank you, Tom. Okay, so MMBT or MMFW it is.
Indeed, they do clean up well and perhaps the thick plating lulled me into a false sense of security when polishing a Gillette 'New' ... and took the plating right off. Typical. It's a candidate for a replate on the head, but I thought I'd see if it polished. It did, then the plating came off.
So, now scouring the 'bay for a gappy toothed Clog Pruf ...

The FW has even heavier plating, at least that's my opinion. I've never seen one that wouldn't clean up to be presentable.
Good job on the cleanup!

Gillette is a whole 'nuther story....The GEM's have thick plating...Gillette I think just waved a gold bar over the plating tanks and said a few words....ha,ha....They had a sincere fear I actually getting and Gold or Nickle on the razor itself...you know, might cut into their profit margin...No offense to Gillette though, that 'Newi a heck of a razor (pardon my inappropriate language here), but probably needed a replate straight from the factory...lol...
