The original boar knot in this Barbershop brush actually worked pretty good but the last time I used it the knot fell out. Instead of trying to glue it back in I decided to replace it with an 18mm TGN finest badger that I had laying around. I would have preferred to replace it with one of the TGN boar knots, but there just wasn't enough room to expand the hole without risking damaging the ferrule, and the 18mm finest fit perfectly without doing anything except remove what was left of the old glue. While I was at it I stripped the old lacquer off since it was in kind of bad shape, and applied a couple coats of Minwax polyurethane. Here's a couple before shots, I stuck the knot back in for the first one. Here is the finished brush.

Yeah, drumzalot nailed it... gorgeous! Huge, but gorgeous.
Tom, do you know if they are the same company that made the Barbershop soap from (at least) the '70s? High quality soap from yesteryear IMO.

Thanks! And yeah, Brian that is the same company. I have several of their mugs, and one puck of soap that is an outstanding performer. Actually, the brush isn't very big at all, that is only an 18mm knot in it. I've always enjoyed using it because it's a very ergonomic size.
