I do it before the first shave with every blade, then only as I feel the urge. I do notice a difference in the PTFE coated GEMs from Ted Pella on the first shave. With out it, the first couple of shaves can be pretty rough. How about the rest of you?

Never have. I know some folks swear by it. I just never have gotten into it.
People who do it say it really helps.

I have done this before every shave, before the first shave, and not at all. I definitely seem to notice a difference on the first shave but not so much on the subsequent shaves. It's part of my cleanup and prep routine so it still gets done pretty regularly without me even thinking about it now.

I hand strop my SE and DE blades "after" each shave. Do not strop before the 1st shave. Have had great success doing it that way. But it seems YMMV with when to hand strop. Only sure thing is that no matter when you strop it seems to help keep the blade sharp.
