Hello all, Anyone else get hold of one of these Limited Edition Simpson's? I have yet to use mine, just wondering if anyone else has one how has it been for them? I love the handle - the resin is very similar to a Custom Neep brush I have. Cheers, Jon

I own #95. It's a nice brush and coincidentally I'll probably use it tomorrow. I face lather exclusively and it's as large a knot as I want in natural fiber. It was also the last brush I wanted to buy. That is, until I tested the prototype Simpson Chubby2 Synthetic Badger. That brush is hands down the best brush I've ever used. Now I'm looking forward to it's production so that I can get my hot little hands on one. When it comes out in a Case size I'll probably get yet another brush. The fiber is that good. I never thought I'd ever write that about any synthetic brush not too many years ago. In a short time they've come a very long way. The Chubby2 actually has a larger knot than the P8, but because of the way synthetics work it has an effective size similar to the TSN P8.

I've yet to try a Simpson of any sort. They're fine looking products. What knot is in the LE? Is it a synthetic also?

Sorry for the confusion. I rambled.
The knot on the P8 is Simpsons Best badger. It's the "highest" grade of badger that I find I need. Especially if you can get the retailer to hand pick a brush for you. Some "best" badgers can be scratchy since there is a tiny bit of overlap between best and pure and Simpson won't chemically alter their natural fibers. All of my other Simpson brushes have been hand picked best badger and are really excellent. The P8 has a very tiny bit of scratch, but no where near as scratchy as a Pure badger. There was no possibility of a hand picked brush with the P8s.
Getting off the subject now, but if you find a manufacturer with a given grade of badger and all the knots look the same you can be certain that the fibers have been altered in some way. Or if they all feel the same too. Natural fiber isn't like that in nature. A great many (most?) manufacturers use altered fibers, but will deny it if asked. But if all their brushes look and/or feel the same in a given grade you can be certain it's altered despite the denial.
Sorry I confused the issue with the synthetic in the post above. The prototype Chubby2 synthetic badger is the first synthetic for Simpsons. To the best of my knowledge only a few prototypes have been made for testing. When last I heard, it was supposed to be in production and available by mid January. That hasn't happened yet.
