The blade in the above razor is secured by two folding ears and two punched tabs on the blade platform. Some of these punches do not align with the cutouts in the Feather blades rendering the razor useless. I have one of these and got tired of just looking at it. Upon closer examination I found that one of the punches aligned perfectly with the blade. I used a small anvil and a peening hammer and flattened the useless punch. The razor shave just fine now. I don't know if this will work on all of them, but, if you have one, it's worth a try.

I am unable to find the thread now but Hoosier trooper has a nice Rhodium model with the same problem. It is interesting to speculate why Valet built them like this, I suspect to stop competitors blades fitting, who those competitors were back in those days I do not know, were feather about then? There are many different configurations of the punched tabs on different valet models and of course they all 'marry up' with cut outs on the original valet blades, the only logical assumption is they changed them to prevent the use of other blades. Sneaky devils! Regards Dick.
