So my Sharpologist business partner, Andy, is a big SE/GEM fan and PIF'd me a G-Bar with a few blades to try. I have to say, it's pretty good: smooth, somewhat mild (but not too mild). I have to get used to a new blade angle of course. But I see a Sharpologist review of GEM's soon!

It sounds like the door to the world of single edge razors has opened. I'm glad you enjoyed the Heavy Flat Top, there are so many great SE razors to explore. Here I go recommending something but you might want to try a great all around SE razor the 1912. Hopefully, you will review many more SE razors in the future.

Hi! Great to see you over here on TOST and, like drumzalot says, there's so many outstanding SEs to try. The 1912 is the quintessential SE and then there's the fierce GEM Micromatic Open Comb for starters. Looking forward to some excellent reviews

Welcome to the forum! But OH MY! There goes the price of SE razors! They'll go through the roof!
The G-bar is a decent shave. Plentiful and relatively inexpensive at this time. :-)
(Note to self... get a streamline before Mantic brings in the millions of folks who follow his blog. )

The Gbar is a great start. You will find though, that there are truly other gems amongst the GEMS you will be wanting to experience. It is a different journey than that of DE. Have fun!

Welcome Mr. Mantic, your videos have given me so much pleasure and entertainment....At first, they help me learn TWS shaving techniques that I never learned in the '60's when I first started daily shaving. Afterwards they continue to entertain through your humor and reminding me of fundamentals that I've gotten sloppy on... Now it is great to welcome you here and hope our SE home here can bring you pleasure and good times in return.
Glad to hear you enjoy the HFT, she is a nice, mild welcome to the sharp side...But I am looking forward to hearing how you enjoy some of the SE's legacy all-stars. Like the GEM Cutlery Damaskeene (so very mild yet efficient), the Ever-Ready 1914 (possibly the most elegant razor of all time and feels and sounds close to a str8), the Ever-Ready 1924 (an efficient to the extreme, yet still smooth), and of course the legendary Micromatic Family...
I'm sure we all will be happy to see these lovely shavers light that light in your eye as they have for so many of us...
All the best

Welcome aboard! There's a world of fun amongst single edge razors. Often overlooked, the Wilkinson Swords make excellent shavers. As for GEM & Every Ready - well, they're okay, but cheap, can rip your face to shreds without warning and really should be pushed to one side with a big health warning! They're duds, the lot of 'em. There, that should keep it secret for us

Matic, welcome. Everyone else, relax. The typical DE user excels in his eternal quest for the perfect razorblade. The choice with single edge razors is... well, stainless or rusting. Then there are cut-throat like blades, aka the casual shaver's nemesis.
I think everyone's safe. On with the show.
