Hi I have 2 micromatics at the moment (Im sure that will change soon enough)
So my question is what finish do you prefer and why (Brass or plated)
I have a Clog Pruf in brass and a Flying wing plated,

I think I prefer plated, although one of mine has missing plate on the teeth, so hard to tell. Between the two Clog Prufs that I have, I prefer the plated one.

The brass you mention, I'd be willing to be was at one time gold plated.
I prefer the looks of the gold, but it's soft and thin. So for a razor that will get used I prefer the chromed (or is it nickel?).

I will use this old topic because I have, indeed, a question regarding a Micromatic I recently won an auction on the Bay for a MMCP which arrived today. The overall condition of the plating is excellent, it's not NOS but very close, could have been used not more than a few times. The problem comes with the TTO mechanism which is a bit stuck, I mean not completely, but it does need a "mechanical help" by hand to fully open. What do you guys recommend? Maybe to leave it overnight soaking in water plus dish soap?

Well, you're not going to be able to take it apart ... apparently, you can drive over these things and they still don't come apart ... and still work afterwards!
Give it a good soak in water and soap first, a good covering in WD-40 and hope for the best.
As for my first reply at the top of this thread, I'm now going to say brass (well, former gold). I'm now a big fan of just how shiny plain brass can be on a razor.

Mineral oil is good too. Drop a few drops in. It should work the kinks out.

After 2 overnight soakings in hot water and soap the situation improved a bit: now the razor opens properly but when closing, the final twists of the knob feel very hard and stuck.
Guess I'll try with the WD40 (don't have any mineral oil and I really don't know where I can find any...). Should I spray it all over or only under the base? And, most important, how do I clean it afterwards? (guess it would be very very greasy, would it? )

I would soak it some more since it loosened things up. I wouldn't be in a hurry to move on. What you did is having results.
Once upon a time in the US there was a "enzyme action" laundry additive marketed. If you have access to anything like that I'd mix some in with the next soak.

In the US mineral oil can be found in any drug store . . . in the laxative section. Don't know about elsewhere.
I would soak the razor in mineral oil overnight and then work the action, opening and closing until it works smoothly.
WD-40 might also work. (Trivia: The WD-40 company is headquartered in San Diego.)
Afterwards wash the oil (or WD-40) off with lots of hot (not boiling) water and dish soap.

Baby oil is the same thing. I get the unscented off-brand kind. Baby section of course.

Thanks for the advices. I think I will try more soaking to see if I can improve the situation a bit more and then I'll go for WD40 or baby oil (this one I should have, having a 2yr old daughter ) I will keep you posted on the developments!

The wd40 should work. I had the same problem. I got a Clog Pruf in a lot of other razors. I wasn't planning on doing anything with it, as it wasn't the reason I was going after the lot. But when it arrived it looked brand new. But same as yours, the TTO didn't work. I soaked it in a bath of wd40. Actually submerged it in a tray, not just a quick spray. In the morning I tried the tto and it worked but was still slightly sticky. I had to manually help the door open and close a couple times while I worked the mechanism and it was fine. I rinsed it out and gave it a scrub with soap and a toothbrush. Then just to be safe, I kept it next to the couch and would just sit and pay with the TTO while I watched tv or whatever over the next couple days. Just in case it felt like it was stiffening up. It didn't. Now it is one of my favorite shavers. Used it today actually! Here's today's shave;
