I picked this up on eBay the other day and it arrived today ... Sadly, empty. I knew that, but it is sad. To perk me up, I dropped a fresh puck of Bradford's finest in: a puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap ... and shaved with it. Sorry, it was a DE.

Wooh! Is that anything to do with the Durham DuBarry?

Sorry to hear you had to shave with one of those contraptions.

They were just a soap maker, Marcus.

Due to the fact that the Dubarry Perfume Factory was based in the UK I would suspect that this soap never hit the states. It must have been a good soap since it was tallow based. The few Dubarry soaps I've seen on the Bay never have the actual soap. Look at it this way at least it makes a nice little collectable and you can store your soaps in the nicely designed container.

Yes, indeed ... and so I dropped in a puck of my county's finest: Mitchell's Woof Fat. Love it!
I never quite got the brush thing. I'm not a brush man. After catching that lovely Rolls Razor soap, I got a little tingle every now and again for antique bowls. I have a nice Erasmic - old, but not vintage, and now this one. I can see more of these working their way into my collection.
I would absolutely love a vintage Brut bowl because ... I love Brut, but also I have found Stirling's Lavender and Bergamot plays excellently and makes a perfect companion to Brut aftershave splash.

It's a good thing you're not a brush man Paul, you must be running out of room as it is!

I have a nice display cabinet in my den - it used to be full of boutique car waxes. Now it's only half full of boutique car waxes, a shelf of razors and a shelf of soaps.
It's my aftershave cabinet that's now bulging at the seams!
