Burma Shave products are/were made ASR/Personna.I'm not sure if they're still producing the brushes or if the ones being sold on Amazon and eBay are left over stock or newly produced ones. These boxes really didn't look old and weren't dusty like they've been setting there for a long time.
I used it again this morning with a grated Palmolive stick and it performed flawlessly. In my not so humble opinion this knot is much, much better than the standard VDH knot. Maybe I just got lucky with the one I chose to use, but, like I said, it feels very similar to the unbanded Omega boar that TGN sells.

I'm sold.....now I need to find a store that stocks them....Thats one fine looking lather whipper, and if Tom digs it, thats all I need to hear. Toms forgotten more about brushes than I'll ever know....I'm off to find me one...

Tom, so far how would you compare the Burma brush to a vintage Surrey brush (a deluxe natural boar)?

Tom, so far how would you compare the Burma brush to a vintage Surrey brush (a deluxe natural boar)? Right now it's not quite as soft as my Surrey deluxe, which I've used a lot so it's really broken in. I don't know if you saw these pictures of my Surrey brushes from last year or not, but both are used quite regularly. I've retired the blue one on the left for now, but am considering a refurb some time down the road. theoriginalsafetytoo.proboards.com/thread/993/spruced-surrey-brush

Yes, I had seen your post of the Surrey brushes. I owned a beat up Surrey Deluxe Natural Boar brush a long time ago that was thrown away in a box full of old items. My old Surrey was plush and it had soft soothing bristles it was given to me by an uncle.
I prefer budget brushes and actually use my VDH boar brush the most. My version came in Target's Shave Set (with the black handle boar brush).

I agree Joe,I know I could get one of these from the bay or Amazon, but I get a real kick out of finding stuff like this in a regular old store, and then paying with cash instead of a debit card!

I stopped in this store today and they have restocked the Burma Shave brushes and Williams soap after I cleaned them out, so they must have a source to order the brushes from. They will have to restock the Williams again...
