Nothing extraordinary, but kind of a cool local find. Stopped in a small grocery store and found three Burma Shave brushes for $3.64 each and three boxes of Williams soap for $.78 each so I grabbed them all. I know the Burma Shave brush isn't top of the line by any means, but one will go on display with a Burma Shave mug and soap, I plan on using one and will hold onto the third one as a possible re-knot candidate. Three brushes and three boxes of soap and change back from a $20 bill, can't hardly go wrong! And yes, that's my thumb in the top right of the picture in the store.

Good catch!
Our supermarkets tend to be so regimented that you always see the same again and again and again and again ... you've got to hit the ethnic stores for something random. We've a large Indian sub-continent ethnic group in my (home) city and they have some great stores. You never know what you'll find. So far, it's been alum ... and a lot of disposable Gillette, but I live in hope.
You didn't fancy the 'Afta' then?

There's something about those Burma shave brush handles, I don't know what it is but they look great. Really old school and 'classic'.

That's a nice little find for having seen this in the wild. Never had a Burma brush looks like it's VDH boar brush quality I suppose. That's a good low price on Williams I've paid twice the amount. That's a great color combo on the brush's handle.

Ok, I used the Burma Shave brush this morning with Burma Shave soap, and I have to say I was quite impressed. It reminds me of the unbanded Omega boar knot, it felt fairly soft right out of the box and should get softer after a few uses. It did lose 3 or so hairs but nothing to be too concerned about. This is a fairly solid built brush that will be fun to use now and then in the rotation. It is identical to the old Ever-Ready C40,except for the black ring around the opening in the ferrule, as can be seen in these side by side photos with one that I replaced the original knot with a black badger. The white part on the ER C40 is a bit darker, I don't know if this is due to age or if they used a darker color originally.

The Burma Shave brush is not bad to use. I have a few floating around myself. Glad it worked for you.

Good score! Are they still made? I'm wondering how long they were sitting on that store shelf.

I did not know they were still being made. Anyone know who is making them these days? Maybe someone can chime in with better information but I believe that in 1997 ASR took over the Burma Shave brand? I suspect that the brushes are made in China. IMO the Burma brush is probably not that much different in quality to the VDH boar brush.
