So, this old Made Rite has seen better days and I wanted to give it a few more years of service so I stripped off the old finish with the idea of staining it. I don't know what the stuff was but it turned to a sticky gooey mess when I put some stripper on it. It was a hard white material that was painted and was very difficult to get off. It actually stained the wood white in some areas, and the wood didn't have much of a grain pattern so I decided to just paint it with some Krylon Hunter Green spray paint that I had. Nothing fancy, but I didn't have any green brushes until now. I replaced the original knot with one of the new 18mm high grade boar knots from TGN, which I'm looking forward to trying out. Anyway, here are some before and after shots of it. Thanks for looking! Before: Finished brush:

Tidy ...
I rather fancy making my own brush. On another forum, a chap pushed a knot into the cap off a bottle of Myrsol for a travel brush. I rather like Tabac and I like the caps on their aftershave and EDC. I'd need a 28mm knot, but I think it would be fun.

Tom that is so nice in that green. I've read that TGNs boar knots are from Omega. @ Paul--TGN has a 27 mm boar knot and some darned good big badgers too.

Boar brushes are my faves. This MR sure called for a lot of restoration and finely restored it was. One of the perks of boar knots is getting a good grade for a good price. I've always wondered what a brush would look like painted similar to a Gillette Red tip (International Harvester Red). Excellent color choice Tom. Krylon has a lot of good solid colors to chose from. Yet another fine job!
Paul, the 27mm is pretty big it's a good size even a 24mm is good (just like my SOC boar).

Thanks! The new line of boars that TGN is offering will be great for restoring vintage brushes, available in 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24mm they should fit just about every handle out there. I'm sure they are made by Omega, like the other ones TGN sells, but these don't have the black cup.

Good job!
Ahhh (sigh) ! So many knots and so little room left in the cabinet. Please let us know how the new TGN knot is. (Even if I can't do anything with the knowledge.)

I used it this morning with some vintage Williams Tonsorial and it performed flawlessly, which I pretty well expected, and I'm sure it will only get better as it breaks in.
