Im glad plenty of you enjoy this razor, it is just too mild for me. My minty one gets zero use.

WillyB, I agree with you. I prefer the FW and my mionty GB sees no use other than testing.
I think it's as I heard years ago... you never forget your first.

I just picked up a beautiful, almost new looking HFT along with a Featherweight in similar condition. I was very excited to try the HFT as I think it looks awesome and I generally like heavier razors. I was so surprised that I had trouble getting a good shave with it! I would either not get close enough, or get irritation. The Featherweight worked much better for me, not as great as a 1914 or MM Clog-Pruf, but still very nice.
Anyone else seen anything like this?

I have found that everything made by GEM starting with the Micromatic Flying Wing right up through the Contour II to be too mild for me. I still use them on occasion just for the heck of it, but the older ones are just so much better. I do like the Feather Weight because it's my birth era GEM (1956).
When I do use one I try to make sure it's on the first day's use for the blade when it's the sharpest.

I have 2 G-Bars & keep the less minty one in a drawer with a blade that stays on board for weeks at a time.I use it for in between shaves when I notice my goatee needs a touch up or if notice I missed a spot somewhere. The G with it's slim profile blade cover shaves really well right under my nose or any other tight spots.
Seemed a bit mild for regular shave use but I've never given it a fair trial.

How did I miss the destruction of the Enigma?!
Heavy Flat Top for the epic win!
Though it's also too mild for me.

Fuzzy was nice enough to send me one. I thought I would hate the handle but it feels very natural to me. Like Tom, I normally prefer a round handle. Anyway for me it is very manuverable and compact, fitting into those hard to get areas. It is milder than I usually like, but it doesn't bite and gives a one pass shave that looks clean (even though I can feel the stubble). For that reason I use it a lot when I travel.

I generally have EXACTLY the same experience with the HFT. Even though the FW would seem to be a very similar razor, it performs much better than the HFT. In fact, the humble FW is still one of my favorites.
