I think the Contour razors are very nice looking and am thinking of getting one. But I worry that the shave might not be all that good.
Anyone have thoughts/impressions on the Contour razor?? Sure would like your input/ideas.
Thanks in advance and enjoy those shaves folks.

Extremely mild shavers. It is not a bad shave, just mild. Pop me an addy and I will send you a 1 and 2 to try out before you buy one

Greetings
My personal views on the Contour and the Contour II are very different; I find I get a perfectly good shave with the Contour very similar to the Featherweight, Pushbutton, Flying Wing and Flat Top.
The Contour II on the other hand I find to be 'silly mild', it is a razor that I need an extra pass with ie four passes and /or a whole lot of touching up in order to get a decent shave. IMHO it is the SE razor that I like the least out of all my SE's.
I recently said on another forum that I personally consider the Contour II to be the only 'dud' that GEM turned out, perhaps this statement is a little strong but it is super mild and if you are used to any or all of the other popular SE's (as is the case with everybody on this forum) you might well struggle to get a good shave with it. But that is just one mans opinion you might just love it!
Regards Dick.

I like both of them, but agree with Dick that the Contour is an easier shave to get right with the regular number of passes. I also have an odd hybrid, which is a flip-top head from the Contour II on what is ostensibly a Contour handle. Curiously, the setup seems to perform like the Contour. You can see that the one second in from the left has the inner workings of the Contour (far left) but with a flip-top cap like the two Contour IIs on the right. The Contour II feels very "modern".

Nice to see the models up close. Your hybrid is a bit of a puzzler. I haven't noticed that before. Good eye.
As for shavers, they get the job done but it feels a little unexciting somehow. I've really only had maybe three Contour shaves though, but don't really pine for another.

So, let me if I've got this right. The Contour uses a push button and the Contour II uses a flip top?

Michael I am so sorry I am sending these out today. I have been super busy at the casino. They will be on the way this afternoon though.

Well, thanks to Calvin (wchnu), I have experienced the Contour/Contour II razors. They are, in fact, quite attractive and easy to handle. Like that part a lot.
Unfortunately, neither shaved me very well. Had to work way to hard to get an acceptable shave from them. So, neither will be joining my stable of razors at this time.
It appears that I am hooked on injectors right now cuz I am ignoring everything else I have. And there are a bunch of DE's (31) and SE's (6) on my shelf. I get a great shave everytime with an injector so that's what I reach for most every day. That's all for now, over and out

Just so everyone knows Michael is a class act. Not only did the razors come back cleaner then I sent them probably, but he threw in a Speick shave stick. I love that scent. Thank you my fellow Louisiana shave freak!!
