I am referring to the Cobra Classic which is produced by Classic Shaving in the U.S. I was wanting one for the past three years and finally broke down last month and bought one. This was based on very favorable reviews. The razor accepts Feather Professional blades which was originally intended for the Feather Artist Club straight razors. These blades resemble injector blades but are about 2" long as opposed to 1.5" . Also the Cobra accepts Kai Captain Titan mild blades which so far in my opinion are slightly better then the Feathers. Both blades however, are incredibly sharp. After 15 shaves I am going to say this is about the best razor I have ever used. With that said I still love injector and Gem style razors. note: This razor doesn't load like a regular injector. The top head releases by means of a lever so a blade can be loaded or unloaded by hand. Very nifty I must say.

Does the extra width make it feel different. Any harder getting around the nose and such?

I've drooled on my keyboard while looking at them on the web. But ouch! Pricey!

Does the extra width make it feel different. Any harder getting around the nose and such? It actually helps because I can cover a larger area faster with less strokes. As far as the nose area much easier because the head is very thin compared with a double edge or Gem type razor. Its an unbelievable razor. Price wise yes at $145 its not cheap but its beautifully chromed made in the US and comes with a full cartridge of Feather blades (20) and a blade bank. So far without pushing it I got 10 shaves from a blade. Some guys reported getting 15 very good shaves out of a blade.

Can you elaborate on the feel of the handle? I'm not a huge fan of contoured handles as they tend to limit how you can grasp it. What do you think of how this razor handles & feels in your hand?

Great looking razor. Price rich, but modern SEs are far and few between. Be sure to keep us up to speed on how it is working out for you.

I have medium size hands so this is how I hold the razor. WTG - thumb, index, middle, ring (fingers) XTG - thumb, index & razor rests on the middle finger ATG - thumb, index & razor rests on the middle finger Some have complained about the contour handle, most like it including myself. The handle length is 3.5" weight 3.2 oz. My first shave I was a little nervous as I had heard the hype how this razor is extremely aggressive. This razor is incredibly efficient in shaving extremely close without irritation.

I'm one that didn't care for the handle. I used one for a week, and I agree that the blades are outstanding and the Cobra gives outstanding shaves, but I prefer round handles.I found it distracting to have to constantly make adjustments in handling it.
It's a beautiful and extremely well made razor, but in the end I just didn't think it gave results that are 10 times better than what I can get with a $10-15 SE and blades that I can get at the local store.
And I know I'm in the minority by not falling head over heels in love with it but that's my honest assessment.

I had seen this razor and was considering making the investment. The thing that stopped me was the handle. I like the round handles because rather than change my grip, I just twirl it a bit in my fingers to get the angle I need. Just my preference, though. It obviously works great for others.
One other thing, there is just something about using the original old razors that appeals to me. Like using a part of history.

I am the first to admit I love the look of the Cobra, but after reading your honest assessment, I think that I will steer clear, as I truly value your opinion when it comes to SEs
