For me the carbon steel blades give simply superb shaves everytime whereas I find the stainless to be harsh and inconsistent. If only carbon SE blades were readily available in UK...

I have used the stainless steel PTFE blades since I got into SE razors and have been generally happy with them. I didn't like the additional maintenance required with CS blades.
However, right now I'm on a weekend getaway that involves flying, so I'm using the generic CVS carbon steel blades that I purchased when I got here.
I have to say that I'm getting some great BBS shaves with these blades in an Ever-Ready Shovelhead.
Maintenance is not an issue since I'm using a fresh blade for each shave. No reason not to, since I can't take the blades home with me.

I compared the PAL Supers and Treet Supers a few years back and couldn't really tell the difference, but because the PAL was Blue I didn't notice the discoloring or spots, so that gave them the edge....
3 years ago I tried the GEM Blue Stars and also loved them but maintenence issues I opted for SS...
Fastforward to this week, I tried some more PAL Supers, and Whoa! I was so knocked out, I ordered 30 more on-line after the first shave...I've gotten 2 shave with a 1912 and just got one with my ER1909.... These PAL Carbons are amazing...Last shave with the 1909 I got a one pass BBS without even trying...
I will be back to continue this...

JUST GOT SHAVE #3 FROM THE PAL in the 1909 "New" Ever Ready.....was just as good as shave #1... Actually couldn't tell the difference, except I did 3 passes. Pretty much had BBS after the second pass, but didn't want to stop so did one more light pass on principle....The end result is pretty perfect. I can see, back years ago when I tried these blades before, I was tossing them too soon. I was way excessive compulsive about the carbon factor...I'm just swishing in alcohol and drying them this time. And will just keep shaving til the quality goes down...
The test continues.....

Shave #4 was easy as pie....I can see I was tossing them too early before...But we shall see...When I tried them before I believe I just tossed after day 3... But this day 4 was fine.... I'll definitely go for Shave 5 tomorrow..
The test continues.....

Shave # 6 and it was a very easy, 3 pass DFS, without a hitch or one tug... I might try shave number 7 and see if I can get a BBS or I might change....Haven't decided yet....
Shave #4 was a BBS big time...5 and 6 have been effortless DFSs though...Maybe if I had done another pass or a little buffing here or there I might have found the baby....But I could definitely HEAR him!!! Lol!!

Today I went for shave #7 and ended up with a BBS....I had to work a little...but it was there...
If I can get 7 great shaves with any blade...SS usually....thats as good as it gets for me....
And the carbons cost less....so even if I get fewer, but great shaves, I'm happy...
But this blade has given me 7 and still not a tug....I'm knocked out!
