www.onebladeshave.comThe most interesting thing about this razor is that it uses the somewhat more traditional SE blades; the spineless Feather SE. This would be the first modern SE not built around the Feather AC type blades. One thing I don't like is getting my blades from them. I would be surprised if I couldn't find them cheaper than they are selling them for. When they call them "our" Feather blades it is pretty obvious how much they value them. Also, this blade will be the only blades to work in this razor so the name OneBlade is fitting in more ways than "one". No other blades to try so you are stuck with what you get. Unless you feel like de-spining GEM blades but even then who knows how much more modification might be needed for them to fit. Not only are they charging a high price for the razor but they also want to rope you into a blade subscription. Oh yeah, and to get the best shave possible you should only use each blade for a single shave. So a new blade is what they suggest for every shave. I can easily get 10+ high quality shaves from these blades. Here's the info on their blade subscription and razor cost: OneBlade Stainless Steel Razor and Stand 60 Single Edge Blades $299.00 30 Blades Shipped every 30 days for $27.95 Blade Subscription Starts after 60 Days So this works out to about a buck per blade after shipping (which is about what it cost for Feather AC type blades). I can order 30 Feather spineless blades right now from Connaught for $18.58 including shipping. 120 for only $50.62 shipped. So if buying in bulk you can easily get the blades for almost half of what they are charging. Regardless, I'm still interested in this razor. Just allow me to buy the razor alone without the blade subscription & the price would need to be a significant drop.

Yeah, I saw this too. I, of course, am interested once I saw which blade it was built around. I literally did a spit take (sorry keyboard and monitor) when I saw the "new blade a day" angle. Although many people say they can only get 2-3 shave out of the blade, I'm in the "7 great shaves and I'm out but could easily get a few more" camp. I want the razor but, geez, I've got the blades already. Lots of blades. Hopefully it will sell enough units so they eventually start showing up on eBay, etc. The blade subscription business models is a doomed idea in my opinion.
Also, if you order 240 blade lots for Connaught, free shipping kicks in and so are currently paying less than 40 cents per blade.

Or maybe hope they don't sell at all so they will be forced to reevaluate their business model. I don't think they will sell. Truthfully I think it is just a joke like the zafirro razor/marketing ploy used to generate "Buzz."

Feather DE blades are only good for a few shaves. The Feather SE blades are good for at least 10 shaves on my face, but they aren't as long lived as a GEM. Feather SE blades are very different blades from the DE version. I think one per day is just a bit of overkill (like 10x) and a way for them to continue to milk the folks who simply don't know. I consider that unethical. SE feathers, when I bought them, were $1 per a few years ago, but one simply doesn't need a fresh one every day.
No doubt they'll get folks who don't know squat about SE razors to swallow the bait hook, line, and sinker.
I was drawn to blade shaving for the "savings" (cough, cough, choke, choke), but at $1 per day for blades where's the savings? Oh, and that's after spending $300 to buy in.

Being a fan of the Valet Auto-Strops, I'm quite familiar with the Feather blades. I find them inferior to the Gem blades both in sharpness and longevity. Still, I usually get 3-5 shaves per blade, certainly more than 1.
I'm happy to see razor designers focusing on SE - more publicity is always good, and I notice that many of the buyers of these new razors are coming from DE shaving or even cartridges, rather than already using other SE razors.
Still, what I'd really like to see is a modern SE razor using the standard Gem blade, since I pay around 20 cents per SS blade and get a dozen or so shaves from each one.
I also can't help thinking that $300 will buy a boatload of vintage SE's.

It must be true, or they could be sued.
Now, Personna still own the rights to ASR ... who made "the best razor on earth ... period". I wonder what they'd think.
It does look kinda nice, but mechanically, that un/screw thing that appears to be required with every blade change makes me shudder. If they'd looked at the Enders Speed Shaver, they could have pinched a very sound idea!

But this is $1000 - for that I could buy a Cobra Classic, a Mongoose, a Streamline, a Rapide, a Darwin and have a holiday in Lyme Regis...

Pretentious. Unethical. Snobbish. Highfaluting. Delusions of grandeur. Just a few thoughts that came to mind when I read it.

"The Finest Razor On Earth" - Kampfe Bros. advertisement, circa 1900 "We believe we’ve created the world’s best-made shaving instrument" - OneBlade advertisement, circa 2015 I hope the razor is more innovative than the advertising. --Bob
