I waited patiently for the 1912 month of the Centennial Razor to come to an end. Yeah Reichard's Razor!!! Now, time for a serious question!!! Just where is the appropriate, and deserved, love for the Lather Catchers?? I appreciate them thar new fangled modern razors like the 1912, or even a futuristic razor like the MicroMatic as much (well maybe) as the next guy. But, there is no comparison to a good old LC - perhaps a 1905-1911 production GEM of any year, or an ER, or lovely Star LC!!! (drool) Oooh! I seem to usually default to a 1908 GEM LC with two piece tubular handle as my 'gotta have' SE. What about you fellow SE slicers? COME OVER TO THE SHARP SIDE!!! LCs ;D

Well, yes, now that 1912 month is over, I plan on using my lather catchers a bit as I can work them into the rotation amidst other shaving projects; my small LCs too.
FWIW, I was eyeing my LCs as I was suffering through the great shaves of 1912 month. Not that I could do better with the full LCs, but they were lonely and calling to me. What a shame that I can't justify shaving twice a day.
My post may be somewhat redundant...aren't 1912s small LCs? Anyway, if someone doesn't know what I mean, just guess, 'cause I probably don't either. Tomorrow the plan is to use the 1914 SLC.

I have owned three Star No.1 sets and sold all of them. I never enjoyed shaving with them, just couldn't get comfortable. If I ever stumble across another one cheap I may pick it up as a display piece but I won't go out of my way to get another.

The Star No 1 was an ASR product - probably manufactured in the early 20s - too new!! Have you test driven a plain old Gem Junior Bar?? Any old age will do, but the head style without a frame hinge, such as the 07/08s, 11 elite, nice shavers. The Star No 1 - sheesh man, darn near a cartridge! ;D
