Anyone elso enjoy the old style web chairs? I have a few that are all metal frames. I reweb them when they need it and keep on sitting.
I think they are great as they are light and fold up in the back of a truck or whatever for transport.
Any of you guys like them?

Fuzzy,
I love them. Grew up with them but unfortunately the ones I have will not safely hold a guy of my build! In otherwords I have out grown them! ;D
Still have a couple of them but have gone to a bit stronger foldable chair. Easier to carry around and it will support a guy built like me.

I grew up with the web strap lawnchairs too. I really haven't seen one now for some time. Can you even buy the webbing still??
I tried to repair one once but found I couldn't get the webbing tight enough. When loose, it fails rather quickly.
They are great for sitting though. Even for the recliners, they were great for the air flow - unlike these cushioned covered thangs these days. On a hot day it the web strap ones are great.
Ya got me thinking I will keep my eyes peeled at garage sales this season.

I remember some time ago we talked about this. I think it might have been across the street. At that time Fuzzy was looking for some of the webbing to repair a couple of chairs he had. I guess he found some. Since I do a lot of camping I've tried a lot of the new style folding chairs over the years. The ones that collapse together and then get stowed in a cylindrical sack are uncomfortable to me and they break easily. The more exspensive ones that have a table and cooler attached are OK, but take up a lot of space. In my opinion for comfort, durabilty, easy take down and minimal storage space it's hard to beat the old web chairs. Just slam it together with one motion and toss it in the back up the truck or car trunk. They take a beating and keep on ticking. I only have one left so when I see another at a yard sale or something I'll buy it.

The only place I have found the webbing is Ebay. I also picked up some of the screws to replace some that were rusted badly.
I can't get it as tight as the factory did. I get it tight enough to use though.

Like the rest of you, I grew up with the web chairs and always found them to be comfortable. My wife talked either my mom or my grandparents out of several a number of years back and became quite adept at re-webbing them. At the time (we're talking at least 20 years ago), the webbing was still readily available at hardware stores and the like. Eventually the aluminum frames became too rickety for them to safely use and we relegated them to the recycling bin. That was just a few years ago so I'd reckon that altogether they saw something like 40 years of use.
Now that I think about it, I think we still have the chaise lounge. I remember using it just last summer or the year before.
