I love blades like PAL carbon steels. Has anyone used the feather carbon steel that fits the valet auto strops? I ordered a 10 pack off da bay on a whim.

Yes, I use them in my Auto Strop. Good quality and a pleasant Shave, in my experience.

I tried them once. My experience led me to believe that at some point Feather must have marketed a paint scraper.

Yes ... horrid!
FAS-5/10 is the code, right? Nah! Horrid! I think they're the equivalent of single/double faceted GEM blades, which scrape paint off windows well, but shaving hair off your face ... immediate fail.
See how you go, but don't get your hopes up.

If they do not work in the razor then I still have a use for them.

Mine are "FHS-5", which could explain the difference of opinion.

Mine are "FHS-5", which could explain the difference of opinion. The FHS series are the stainless steel blades. We're talking about carbon steel blades. Carbon steel blades on the left, stainless steel FHS blades on the right. Hope this clears things up. --Bob

Yup the ones on the left. I already know how good the ones on the right are. Hopefully they clear customs soon.

Ok made it through the shave, My first impression is these things are Feather sharp. Just as sharp as their ss brothers. They also felt rougher then the first shave from a treet or a PAL carbon. That being said it was a good shave. The Valet was very aggressive feeling. It has been so long since I used one that I really do not remember if they are normally this aggressive.
I dried the blade and razor after the shave like I would with any other CS blade. Ended up with one weeper from cutting the top off a sore on my neck.
If you want to see the shave I posted a video.

Shave 2 with this blade. I changed to another razor. This is one that you do not need the cutouts for. I got a good shave. had to work a bit more then usual on it though. Not sure why yet. I will take a few more shaves to make up my mind.

3rd shave was a challenge. Two decent shaves was all out of this blade. I am going to try another and see how it goes.
