OK, that makes more sense now! I imagined it flinging blood, flesh, and lather as the blade spun.
I still wouldn't hold it in place, but it's no big deal.

I almost popped some corn!
Great little vid of this razor MrGuy!! I have looked at them a bazillion times - in photos that is. I have never been quite certain how it was to be used. Your video is perfect for seeing how it goes together, how the blade looks, etc. -- great job!!
That blade turning at that rate. I don't get what the heck the strategy would be really. If that is the correct speed, what is the point? If it was intended to go faster though, then flinging flesh and blood idea might just pan out.
I can't see what 'edge' that slow spin would make. It would indeed impart a slicing action to the blade. Not sure how I feel about that though!!!
These razors are not that common - perhaps that was wise!
If you get it sorted for giving a reconditioned blade a spin MrGuy, ya gotta do another movie!!!!
Good stuff for a guy that shaves using a kitten for a razor!

I'm not sure how fast they were inteded to spin either. I'd imagine that after ~90 years it's slower than it was when it was a teenager. Given the dates that is was being sold, anything that made your product different from the others could be billed as being better. This one sure has some different things going for it. I do have an idea for the blade. I think if I pop the whole blade assembly into an electric drill and go very slow and careful, I might be able to bring a hone up to the edge and get something that would last a shave or two. You better believe I'll get that shave in a video! I might want evidence one day as to why I have half a face I forgot about the kitten thing. I just laughed so loud I got a couple of stares in my door, as I'm checking in from work. ;D

Well, IMO, the why...
The box says it forces you to shave with a diagonal stroke. I can see that. The blade turning at or near that rate, when used in a normal stroke, the blade will actually be used as though it was on a diagonal. (as seen from the blade)
I don't know if anyone else does this, but I use my razors frequently (on the diagonal) by twisting the handle in my grip slightly and not attacking the stubble full on at 90°, but at maybe 45° from straight on. I do it to get my razor narrower, maybe the thought was a diagonal blade for a more slicing shave? I dunno about that. IMO it's be more like a slant razor, but never having used a slant that's just guesswork.
