I had the pleasure of meeting up with mrchick on Monday. He brought me a very nice surprise. It is an old beauty. It is a Razac Razor. Here are some images In reading about the Razac. It originally took a DE blade. Although you only can use one side at a time. Looking at it I decided that it would most likely take a de-spined SE. I first straightened the comb out. As it had a slight bend. That prevented it from holding the Blade properly. After a few taps with a hammer and drift. It is pretty darned good. As you can see in the above pictures. It holds the SE Blade very nicely. It looks like it will be a nice mild shave looking at the Blade exposure and gap. I will be giving it a go tomorrow morning. I will post an update. Now off to shine this little guy up. Tom

Be careful....Remember....we don't want any mishaps on Thanksgiving Day! Don’t worry. I will shave early enough to get to ER, get stitched up and have time to spare to carve the turkey with a fresh GEM Blade. That’s how I roll.

First shave impressions. First impression of the Razac. I really like the simplistic design. Loading the blade is as easy as any other razor. The weight and balance are fine. It is a nice light razor. So here we go. I loaded the Razac with a de-spines GEM SS. Not on purpose, I much prefer the carbon blades. Anyhow I once loaded I was off to the shave room. I used my JR 57 with the Maggard synthetic and my all time favorite soap Tabac. Starting my first stroke cautiously as not knowing what angle would work. I found out almost instantly that it has great Blade feel. I found my angle on the first stroke. I do like how the Blade is fully exposed. It gives you complete control over your angle of attack. I found the razor to be very smooth even with the SS blade😤. I finished my first pass and checked reduction. On par with my 1912’s. Second pass I had no issues and found that the reduction was very nice too. Still around 1912. Not as close as the 14 or 24. Lathered up for my final pass and finished up with a DFS. When rinsing off with water I knew the Aluminum block was going to leave a bit of sting. This is totally the SS Blade. I will give it a go again with the correct Blade for me. The gold Carbon. All in all I am very very pleased with this razor. Is it an earth shaker, no. It is however a very nice shaving tool that will have a permanent place in my den. Thank you mrchick for the razor.

Wow! "I Love It When A Plan Comes Together!"
Man....you had me scared, the way you started off..."So here we go!" .... Sounded a little like the top of the first hill of a roller-coaster...lol! But man...I loved how the plot unfolded....I'd watch/read it again! Great plot development, and the characters were 'historic'... Two Thumbs Up!
