Looking around on eBay this morning. Bad thing to do I know😬 Anyhow saw this Gem. I believe it will be a Damaskeene. There were no pictures of it open. I made an offer and they accepted. Anybody have info on where this falls? Before or what I think after the Gem Cutlery Corp. razors. Tom

It was in 1919 that GEM Cutlery became GEM Safety Razor Corp...At the same time that they became a subsidiary of American Safety Razor. The first change was just the printing on the back...but between 1919 and 1921 they were in transition....so it could have the beveled top edge, and by 1921 they had changed the ad inside from "Use Only Damaskeene Blades..to just Damaskkene Blades.... So it could have either one....
But we can safely bet, yours was manf. Between 1919 and 1921..... The good news...I did a back to back shave off with two Dammy's...one curved top and one with a bevel...and couldn't really tell a difference....If anything, the perticular one I had with the bevel was maybe a tad more efficient.....I think with all things Dammy...it depends on each individual razor...there were so many changes, even just in the GEM Cutlery varients...
There......did I use a enough words to not actually say anything diffinitive?......lol!

This will be my 4th Dammy. OC Gem Cutlery curved top Gem Cutlery curved top Gem Cutlery beveled top All say “ use only with Gem Damaskeene Blades” I think it is time to use all my Dammy’s. Need to do a comparison. I will be using a Damaskeene Blade of course.

Awesome! I will add I like the curved top Dammy I have more then the others. Could be because it's a OC. But I also agree things can be different between the same models.
