Friday, January 5th, 2018 Pure-badger brush The indescribable Williams Mug Shaving Soap Kampfe Brothers Star No. 1 Gem Blue Star carbon-steel Lilac Vegetal Another fantastic lather-catcher shave. I found a 2-ounce sample of that Lavender Vegemite stuff. My skin feels great, and the scent is pure and natural, but I don't know that I care to smell like a flower blossom. Think of it as smelling like the Hungarian Calvary. As I recall that is who it was originally made for. I am very happy The Veg chose me.

Fri 5th January RazoRock Syn 22mm Lea Classic soap Mongoose B3 Schick Proline [ 5 ] Alum Rub/Rinse off Lea Classic A/S Lotion Today used the "Blingy" Mongoose which I purchased on a bit of a whim. Find that it seems silky smooth during a Shave, which seems to cause me a problem. During the latter polishing stages of a Shave, I find that it glides too easily and as a consequence found that it was not eradicating fine stubble. This is only a personal observation based on face stroking at the end of the Shave. I seem to have got better results yesterday with the Mongoose Satin even though using a milder blade.

Today's shave was terrific. I'm trying some blades out this month. This was my third shave with a Proline injector blade and I think I'm convinced.....they are superb. The Schick 66 behaved beautifully and all came together quite well. Have a good weekend, all!

Saturday shave. I am a fan of rose scented soaps. Sometime back I waa gifted a cake of a German made soap called Barber Salon Soap. This is the original thread. theoriginalsafety2.com/thread/281/barbers-saloon-soap. I really should use this soap more often. It is really outstanding. The JR 137 synthetic loved it too. I already had a nice treet ib the 1907ish ER so it made the scene. British Sterling finished up.

Sat 6th Jan RazoRock Syn. 24mm P & B Spitfire ATT SE G1 Gem S/S + !/2 Spine Shim Trimmed Alum Rub/Rinse Off Tuff Red A/S Lotion Now it has been confirmed that the ATT will work for me if shimmed, I had another Shave today. This time I increased the aggression by using a shim made from the 1/2 spine of a Gem blade trimmed to fit. Now I have some blade feel and the Razor quite smoothly shears away the growth. Overall quite a good shave in terms of comfort and ease, with a quality of finish that equals that from a 1914/1924. To me it is obvious that this Razor was not designed for those with strong and heavy beards, which is a shame because I like the feel of it during a Shave.

Sunday's SE ShaveProraso Pre Shave Colgate Mug Jayaruh #144 Gem Jr. 1911 Lather Catcher Henckels Wedge CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Barbasol AS I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Colgate Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #144 badger brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher Razor with an Henckels wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... You will notice the handle on my razor is an original ER wooden handle. I will be using it as a pattern for some more handles. It is about 25% smaller than the handles I originally made.

Found enough energy to shave today. This bug is kicking my butt. Well I had 5 full days growth to test out my Shapleigh. Using a De-spined Gem it was a bit rough on the first pass. The second and third passes were much better. I will try again later with a normal growth.
