So I just stepped on some toes across the street. That right there is the ugliest looking garbage I have seen in some time. Really. I would be afraid to use it as a trotline weight. It would scare the fish off.

The problem is of course that the makers don't understand SE razors. They come from the unmentionable world where two solid blocks of metal (cap and baseplate) need to be used to give those flimsy unmentionable blades a bit of stiffness. So they transfer their unmentionable knowledge to SE razors, where such bulky nonsense is not required.
The other problem is that they only know how to CNC a razor from a solid block of metal. The marvellous things you can do with sheet metal (just look at those clever springs in the 1912 design) are impossible for them. Try and CNC a lather catcher. Sheet metal also allows for curves and cut-outs that are pleasing to the eye.
So, we end up with a three piece razor that accidentally takes GEM blades. I (almost) don't care how well it shaves, as I would have to shave with my eyes closed.

Seems like when reading about it they were comparing it to a GEM.It is not much to look at in my opinion. I don't think the Schick is much to look at either but I like the way it shaves. I was hoping it would have a more retro look to it and.....eh not so much.

It almost looks like an undeveloped prototype.Like they trotted it out to run it up the flag pole and see who would salute it with $40.Seems like they may have mentioned as much, that it would be evolving as time went on.

Any modern GEM blade razor has to answer the question: "How are you better than a 1912/1914/1924/MMOC/whatever-razor that costs a tenth of the price?" "I'm made from stainless steel" is not the correct answer. "I shave better" is probably a lie. Igor's answer "I'm adjustable" is a very good effort.

They got it right 100 years ago. I know full well that no matter what comes next. They will not get it better.
