I sent my 2 lather catchers out to Dave Glynn for replating, and in the case of the Kampfe, since it's corroded under the existing plating, a bit more "restoration" work. It won't actually be restoration, just a removal of the corrosion. smoothing and polishing, copper plating then nickle. New nickle plating will outlast me so that's what I went with for both razors. I miss them already, they've never been away from home this long since I've had them. www.restoredrazors.com/I'll definitely post pics when they come back.

Oh, I look forward to seeing the end results. Sorry for your temporary loss though.

I have absolutely no idea. While I want them back tomorrow, at the same time I don't want it rushed. I have no doubt he'll do it right and they'll get back to me as soon as possible.
I do have before pictures, so I'll be sure to post them with the after pictures.

No, Not yet. I e-mailed Dave last night and he told me he got them just this morning. The Post in the UK appears to be very slow. I wonder if the delay was customs. I'll never know.
He said he's going to be stripping them right away, so it shouldn't be long for his part. Then it's wait on the UK Post again.
If they turn out great I already have another plate job waiting. But I shouldn't discuss it on this forum since it's not the place. But I can say it's a head I was sent, fantastically aggressive, and in perfect condition except for the plating (the handle is useless, but that's typical for these). The gent who sent it to me only wanted it to go somewhere where it would be cared for and used. Aggressive razor, ancient, hey, it sounds like it's right up my alley! If it isn't 100 years old it's close to it. The older the better as long at I like the way it shaves.

Cannot wait to see the replate.
As far as postal from the UK, I just had something I ordered on Tuesday, delivered on Friday, and it was UK standard parcel. I think the major delay is on our side to items being sent abroad. It has taken 2 to 3 weeks for items I have sent to reach Australia and England.

When I get stuff from the UK it takes up to two weeks - sometimes more. I think our Canada Post team has a holiday policy for parcels. They send them to a beach in Barbados for a 10 day tan first.
When you do receive yours back that should be pretty sweet. I have never sent out for a replate and I think it would be awesome to get a nice brand new plated shaver to toss on the heap. I am looking forward to seeing your results.

RM, sorry, but are you serious!? The gorgeous razors you have? I've seen them, do you actually have any that would benefit from replating?

;D Well, it sounds old because it is an Old.
Dave contacted me today. The razors are done and he'll pop them in the mail.
