While looking for new shaving soap to experience, I discovered the Wild West Shaving Co. The name intrigued me, as did the Old-West-themed names for the proprietor's soaps.
Two tubs arrived recently, each weighing two ounces. The sheen on each soap is reminiscent of Cella, but these are hard soaps. Lather is thick and provides good cushion, with slickness sufficient even for the unmentionable sort of single-edge razor.
The Outlaw is described as "scents of leather, gunpowder, burnt honey." It is definitely sweet. The gunpowder/tea scent is on the background, and my sense of smell is not sophisticated enough to identify a leather aroma.
"Scents of pipe tobacco, vetiver, smoky birch" is Peace Pipe . This one is mostly vetiver to me, with a hint of smoke. It is likely that I am unfamiliar with the tobacco to which the manufacturer refers, as I don't detect it.
At $7 for two ounces they are not cheap. In my opinion, these are quality soaps. The small tubs are not the easiest with which to work, but one could grate and repackage the contents if one were so inclined. I also like that they are made by a farmer & rancher in cattlemen country.

I've not used Stirling, and I've only used a couple of tallow soaps as I recall. The WWSC lather is as good as any of them.
It is not as slick as the indubitable Williams Mug Shaving Soap, but that is the case for every other soap I've tried.
Portland General Store made a glycerine soap with bentonite clay. I liked that soap, too. The PGS soap and the WWSC examples have the same satin-like appearance, which may or may not be caused by the clay. I can't state conclusively how bentonite clay affects the lather or the shave.
